College football picks, schedule: Predictions against the spread, odds for top 25 games in Week 5

The college football season is about one-third over. The schedule for Week 5 offers plenty of top-25 matchups with implications for the CFP and the Power Five and G5 conferences. There are five games between ranked opponents on the day. No. 2 Alabama plays at No 20 Arkansas. Florida State takes on Wake Forest. Clemson and NC State meet as top 10 unbeatens. Baylor takes care of No 9 Oklahoma State.

NC State is a favorite against Clemson at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Clemson will win the battle at the line of scrimmage and force a couple of mistakes from Devin Leary. Will Shipley will take over late and prevent D.J. Uiagalelei from having to be a difference maker for the second straight week.

Michigan beat Iowa 42-3 in the Big Ten Championship Game last December. Iowa has scored just four offensive touchdowns in four games this season. Michigan gave up four touchdown drives of 70 yards or more in a 34-27 win over Maryland last week.

Ole Miss is a heavy favorite against Kentucky. Kentucky has a better defensive and more experience at the quarterback position.

Arkansas and Alabama are playing on the road at 3:30 p.m. Tom Fornelli is picking Arkansas to win. He doesn't have a high level of confidence in the game, but he's going to bet on Arkansas.

Oklahoma State has won the last two regular-season games against Baylor. Baylor has maintained their impressive defensive performance and showed real upside in the passing game in a win over Iowa State.
