Orazio remains the favourite to reign supreme in the Ayr Gold Cup

Horse racing fans will descend upon the Ayr Racecourse on Saturday for the meeting's feature race - the Gold Cup.

Run over six furlongs, the Ayr Gold Cup is one of the most valuable sprint handicaps in Europe, with more than £90,000 awarded to the winner.

It is Orazio who is the favourite to be first past the post at the time of writing, with the four-year-old garnering odds of 7/1 with Sky Bet.

For those predicting an outsider to romp home up the straight, Northern Express could be a thoroughbred to consider, with the five-year-old notching up two wins this calendar year and placing in a further two.

The Irish horse is currently garnering odds of 16/1 with the bookies.
