Last week’s Sunday Night Football was an embarrassing defeat for the Dallas Cowboys (3-2) as they fell flat against the San Francisco 49ers in primetime.

This week, Dallas gets another opportunity in front of a national audience as it takes on the Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) and the most generous passing defense in the league.

SGP predictions for Cowboys vs. Chargers

Over 50.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Chargers have allowed 26 points per game to their opponents while scoring 27.5 points per contest as one of the most potent offenses in the league. The Chargers haven’t scored fewer than 24 points in a game this season and should be able to move the ball in their home stadium on Monday night.

Even after the debacle against the Niners, Dallas’ defense still ranks as one of the league’s 10 best units, allowing only 16.6 points per game. But if there’s a weakness to the Cowboys defensively of late, it’s been their run defense allowing 123.4 yards per game on the ground.

Austin Ekeler’s long-awaited return to the lineup for Los Angeles should provide a challenge for the Dallas defensive front. Cowboys games have gone 3-2 on Overs this season. Three of four Chargers games on the season have cleared the 50.5-point mark.

Dak Prescott Over 253.5 passing yards (-110) ⭐⭐⭐

While Dak Prescott is coming off of one of the most disappointing games of his career with the Cowboys, this matchup shouldn't present nearly as much of a challenge as the San Francisco defense. The Chargers have been brutal against opposing quarterbacks this season, allowing 299.8 passing yards per game — the most in the NFL.

The line feels like an overreaction to Dak’s underwhelming performance against the Niners. Although Prescott has only cleared this line in two of five games on the year, the Cowboys have been involved in a number of lopsided scores that have limited the need for Prescott to push the ball downfield. Monday’s matchup should be competitive enough to keep Prescott throwing throughout the game.

DraftKings lists the passing total at 258.5 yards, while FanDuel currently has it at 253.5. These totals are likely to be bet higher throughout the day, particularly at FanDuel. We’re confident in Prescott’s passing line Over up to 267.5 passing yards.

Austin Ekeler Over 51.5 rushing yards (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Austin Ekeler hasn’t suited up for the Chargers since the season opener against the Miami Dolphins, but that was a successful endeavor for the veteran running back. Ekeler averaged 7.3 yards per carry en route to a 117-yard performance on the ground.

Dallas has allowed similar success to opposing running backs this season, ranking 22nd in run defense. Although there’s a risk of the Chargers easing Ekeler back into the mix after his ankle injury, that risk is baked into the line.

DraftKings and FanDuel are seeing Ekeler’s total slowly increase throughout the day. DK currently lists the line at 49.5 rushing yards, while FanDuel has ticked up to 51.5. Since FanDuel’s parlay odds sit at +387, we’re leaning that direction for the parlay compared to DraftKings’ +360 odds, but be aware that these lines are constantly shifting.
