Jacobi Jones vs. Dan Allen Betting Analysis

Jacobi Jones

Jones is a highly-touted lightweight MMA prospect with a professional record of 6-1, and four of those wins have been finishes (two KOs and two submissions). At the age of 27, he is now the LFA lightweight champion and trains out of the very high-level Factory Muay Thai gym in Denver.

He’s listed as 5’10” and has a 70.5″ reach. His background comes from wrestling, where he was an All-American and won conference Freshman of the Year in college while attending Colorado State-Pueblo.

Daniel James Allen

Allen is a 30-year-old professional MMA prospect out of San Jose, California, with a pro record of 4-0 with two KOs under his belt. His background is also in wrestling, but it’s tough to find information on whether or not he competed at the collegiate level.

Allen trains out of the famous American Kickboxing Academy gym, where he has partners like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Cain Velasquez, and Bellator world champion Usman Nurmagomedov. He’s listed at 6’1″, which is a lengthy lightweight–especially for a wrestler.

Updates

No injuries have been reported to the UFC.

Jacobi Jones vs. Dan Allen Betting Preview

Before we can make the most accurate Jones vs Allen prediction possible, it’s time to take a closer look at the available betting lines for this bout.

According to Dana White Contender Series odds, Jones is coming in as the -218 betting favorite. Allen will be closing at around +188 to get his hand raised. The over/under is set pretty even at 2.5 rounds, with the ‘under’ being at +110 odds. The fight is at EVEN odds to go the distance as well.

Decoding the Fight Plan

After watching the tape on both of these fighters, it’s pretty clear what the game plan will be on both sides. Jones is clearly the more all-around mixed martial artist. He has power, quick hands, and very good wrestling. Also, it seems like everybody who steps in the cage with him gets their face busted up badly. The elbows and knees are very dangerous weapons that Jones uses.

Allen’s fighting style is exactly what you’d predict it would be coming out of AKA. You can literally see how the Nurmagomedovs and Cain Velasquez have rubbed off on him through training. The only issue is whether or not that style is smart to bring into DWCS.

Dana White wants to see exciting fights and fighters taking chances and looking for the finish. Allen seems to be most comfortable dominating top pressure and grinding his way out to a decision.

Jacobi Jones vs. Dan Allen Betting Prediction

If you are looking to make the Dana White Contender Series best bets this week, this is one of those fights that can either make or break your betting slate. Jones is coming in as a sizeable favorite. But it seems very easily possible that there’s a boring wrestling decision win for Allen in the cards tonight.

  • With that being said, the official Jones vs Allen prediction is that Jones gets his hand raised.

He is the better fighter, and sometimes you have to just trust that in a bet. If Allen second-guesses himself even once in the octagon and wants to stand up with Jones, he’s going to get knocked out.
