Devils vs Golden Knights Picks, Predictions & Odds Tonight

Both Vegas and New Jersey come into this matchup reeling, but something has to give. With the Golden Knights playing much better at home, our NHL picks expect them to skate away with two points this afternoon.

The Vegas Golden Knights return home on Sunday afternoon to host the New Jersey Devils, with the Golden Knights big favorites on the NHL odds board.

Vegas was very aggressive at the trade deadline yet is just 2-5-0 in its last seven games. Meanwhile, the Devils are in a tough spot after losing 4-1 on Saturday in Arizona.

Can the hosts take care of business at home? Read on for my Devils vs. Golden Knights free NHL picks on Sunday, March 17.

Devils vs Golden Knights odds

Devils vs Golden Knights predictions

The Vegas Golden Knights came out of the All-Star break with two straight wins and three victories in their first five games, but they’re just 3-7-1 since then. They’ve been bit hard by the injury bug as they limp toward the playoffs.

While all the focus has been on the Golden Knights’ potential lineup in the playoffs, they have to get their first. Vegas is losing its grip on a playoff spot. The good news for the Golden Knights is they’re returning home for a few games where they’re 20-10-2 compared to 15-14-5 on the road.

The New Jersey Devils have also been having their own struggles. New Jersey is 2-6-0 in the month of March after Saturday’s loss in Arizona, and it's now allowed the first goal in 49 of its 67 games.

This is simply a great spot for the Golden Knights at home as they had two days off while the Devils were in a hard-fought battle against the Coyotes just 24 hours prior to this game.

The Devils are just 2-9-1 on no days rest this season while the Golden Knights are 10-5-1 on two days rest.

My best bet: Golden Knights moneyline (-155 at DraftKings)

Devils vs Golden Knights same-game parlay

Golden Knights team total Over 3.5

Devils team total Under 3.5

Golden Knights to score first

Vegas only has three wins in its last nine games but has scored at least five goals in each victory (6-2, 5-3, 5-4).

The Devils have had issues on both ends of the ice recently. They've lost six of their last eight games with four or more goals allowed in five of those losses. They also haven't scored more than three goals in those losses.

Vegas should be able to put up a small handful of goals while keeping New Jersey from scoring more than a few.

Devils vs Golden Knights moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Golden Knights odds opened around -155 but are now between -160 and -165. In turn, the Devils odds are between +135 and +140.

Expect more money to come in on the Golden Knights on Sunday with New Jersey on the second half of a back-to-back set. Vegas could also be getting back Alec Martinez.

The total is set at 6.5 across the board with the Over at +102 and Under at -114. I would also consider looking at the Golden Knights puck line at -1.5 (+150 via DraftKings). They could turn this into a laugher.
