Dream vs. Liberty Predictions, Picks & WNBA Odds: Will New York Roll Again?

Plenty of points will be scored when the New York Liberty welcome the Atlanta Dream to town on Thursday. But is there value elsewhere from a betting perspective? Read on for our Dream vs. Liberty prediction based on the best WNBA odds.

With a total hovering around 173.5, we can expect both offenses to have success when the Atlanta Dream (13-10) and New York Liberty (17-5) square off inside Barclays Center on Thursday. The Over has hit in two of the three regular-season meetings between these two teams, clearing a mark of 172.5 by 17.5 points in the previous showdown on June 23.

New York cruised to a 110-80 victory at Atlanta in that matchup, and has won two of three in this year's head-to-head series. The winner of all three games has typically done so in convincing fashion, clearing the spread by at least 16 points in each of the three contests.

With the current spread flirting with double-digits, should we expect another blowout? Or can the Dream rise to the challenge against one of the best teams in the league?

Here is our best Dream vs. Liberty prediction (odds via best sports betting apps; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

My power ratings do indicate that the Dream are the right side at +9 or better, as my projected spread is 7.2 for this game. But that was also the case the last time these two teams met, when my Dream +8 ticket simply had no shot in an eventual 30-point loss.

Consider me scarred.

I also prefer betting on a trendy New York reserve in a game that could ultimately get out of hand, as previous meetings in this series have. That's why my favorite bet is Over 1.5 3-pointers for Marine Johannes, which can only be placed at FanDuel as of this writing.

Johannes is a nice litmus test to determine how much one knows ball. Despite averaging under 20 minutes per game and just 7.7 minutes per contest, Johannes is an invaluable part of a talented Liberty squad. And she has recently captured the attention of the basketball community.

The third-year guard from France has flashed promising potential in just 61 career games. She is already one of the better passers in the league, while also demonstrating a quick-trigger jumper to help provide an offensive boost off the bench.

Johannes, who is averaging 1.8 3-pointers per game this season, has hit her stride from deep of late. She has hit multiple triples in three of her last four games, knocking down 10-of-25 from long range over that span.

As long as she remains aggressive, we like Johannes' chances of knocking multiple 3-pointers. In a game that figures to be high-scoring and could ultimately end up in a blowout, let's bet on Johannes to stay in a rhythm offensively.

Dream vs. Liberty best odds

FanDuel (-113)

As of Thursday morning, only one of our best sports betting sites has a 3-point line set for Johannes. That makes it pretty easy to place this bet at FanDuel, where we can get -113 odds on either side of the current 1.5 3-point line.

That said, both DraftKings and Caesars typically have player prop markets in the WNBA. Keep an eye on both shops throughout the day to see if more options become available, though we'd only play this line at -120 or better.
