Expect Big Moves from Morning Wave at Augusta National

Expect a big move from several top contenders by the pre-tournament odds early in Friday's second round of the Masters. Read on for our best Masters live odds and picks for Round 2.

There's a three-way tie atop the Masters leaderboard after Round 1, with Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm, and Brooks Koepka all shooting 7-under par 65 on Thursday. Though they're three of the top-five favorites heading into Round 2, along with reigning Masters champ and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Jason Day, I'm expecting a big move from Friday morning's early wave.

While looking to jump in with a live bet during Round 2, it'll be essentially to track the Masters projected cut line to help find any outlier prices. Keep an eye on the PGA Championship odds for value in the year's second major.

Let's hunt for value in our breakdown of the best Masters live odds and picks for Round 2.

Masters picks for Round 2

  • Tony Finau (+2500 via Caesars)
  • Patrick Cantlay (+7000 via FanDuel)
  • Second-round leader: Scottie Scheffler (+1100 via DraftKings)

Masters live odds Round 2

Masters weather for Round 2

After a nearly perfect day for Thursday's opening round, the weather is expected to worsen in Augusta, GA, over the course of Friday and into a rainy weekend.

Light rain is expected for Thursday night but should clear up into Friday morning. Temperatures will be slightly cool, but there's little chance of rain, and only low winds are expected for Friday morning. Into the afternoon, winds will pick up with a high chance of rain and off-and-on thunderstorms.

This has me targeting the morning wave with my Masters Round 2 picks in expectation that both Hovland and Rahm could come back to the rest of the field amid poor weather later in the day.

Live Masters predictions for Round 2

Tony Finau (+2500 via Caesars)

Up to $1,250 On Caesars + 1000 Tier Credits + 1000 Reward Credits®

Finau is tied for 13th after Round 1 after firing a 3-under par round of 69. He did that with no dominant strength but also no glaring weakness in his game on Thursday.

The five-time PGA Tour champ has three career top-10 finishes in the Masters and can hold his own if able to work his way into contention for the weekend. Finau will tee off alongside Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood at 10:54 a.m. ET on Friday and should be able to get a jump on the worst of the weather.

With 1.37 strokes gained: approach on Thursday and a modest 0.71 SG: putting, Finau should benefit from slightly softer greens in the morning wave and is a value at these odds while only four shots off the 18-hole lead. Be sure to get the +2500 via Caesars over the +2000 from DraftKings or PointsBet.

Patrick Cantlay (+7000 via FanDuel)

No Sweat First Bet up to $1,000

First, I don't like that Cantlay will be teeing off at 1:36 p.m. ET on Friday, especially while six shots off the lead.

However, I think the poor weather may actually suit his current form just fine. Cantlay was fourth in the field with 2.96 SG: approach on Thursday with his 1.68 SG: off-the-tee ranking eighth. The 31-year-old lost 2.49 strokes on the greens, and that's an area that should correct itself with rain making the greens softer and slower.

FanDuel is offering the best Masters live odds on Cantlay with a +7000 tag heading into Round 2. The +5500 odds available elsewhere are a more accurate price.

Second-round leader: Scottie Scheffler (+1000 via DraftKings)

Bet $5, Win $150 in Bonus Bets

Again, Scheffler is the reigning Masters champion and the top-ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Ranking. He'll also begin Friday's second round at 10:30 a.m. ET and just three shots back of the lead.

Scheffler filed his opening-round 68 with his 4.85 SG: approach and 7.88 SG: tee-to-green ranking second in the field, but with his very uncharacteristic 3.50 strokes lost with the putter ranking second-last.

Scheffler remains second by the odds to win the Masters heading into Round 2, but he's a consensus fourth by the odds in this second-round leader market. This is likely to be the best value bet on Scheffler after he closed at a low of +500 in the pre-tournament Masters odds.
