F1 United States Grand Prix predictions, odds, betting tips, best bets for 2023 race in Austin

Max Verstappen arrives in Austin, Texas for the 2023 United States Grand Prix as a newly-crowned three time world champion.

After finishing in P2 during the Sprint race in Qatar two weekends ago, the Dutchman claimed another title after dominating the field yet again during the 2023 season.

He then went on to win the Qatar Grand Prix the following day to make it 14 wins this calendar year from 17 attempts. One more victory will see Verstappen equal his own record of most wins claimed in a single F1 season with 15 and that'll be the mandate this Sunday.

Before that though, there's another sprint race to take care of. And if the Dutchman wants to add to his tally of previous wins in this format, he'll have to be on top form.

That's because McLaren's Oscar Piastri took the last Sprint crown on offer – his first win in F1 – and he and teammate Lando Norris will prove a threat all weekend long for Red Bull.

Sergio Perez will also be desperate to better his recent performances in Austin as he continues to struggle, while Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Charles Leclerc will all be chasing their first win of 2023. Carlos Sainz will additionally be eager to get back on the track after missing the Qatar GP two weeks ago due to a car fault.

Ahead of the action, The Sporting News dives through all of the odds to give you the best bets and tips for the upcoming race.

F1 United States Grand Prix 2023: Best bet

  • Pick: Oscar Piastri to finish on the podium
  • Odds: -130 (BetMGM)

After winning the Sprint race last time out in Qatar and finishing P2 in the ensuing Grand Prix on the Sunday, we're expecting McLaren's Oscar Piastri to continue his fine form in Austin this time around.

The young Australian driver is putting together a fantastic rookie campaign, helping the British constructor to transition from a lowly team after a poor start to the season, to Red Bull's closest competitors in the past few races.

Piastri has really come to the fore in McLaren's quicker car in the past few races, showing experience beyond his years and choosing the best moments to defend or attack.

That's led to back-to-back podium finishes in Japan and Qatar and his first career F1 win during the last Sprint race two weekends ago.

F1 United States Grand Prix 2023: Flier bet

  • Pick: Yuki Tsunoda to finish in the points
  • Odds: +400 (BetMGM)

Although it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing of late for AlphaTuari's Yuki Tsunoda as he failed to start in Italy and suffered a DNF in Singapore, the Japanese driver has had a solid campaign overall given his car's limitations.

In arguably one of the worst cars on the grid, the 23-year-old has still managed to finish in the points positions on three separate occasions in 2023 and we're backing him to repeat that feat here.

That's mostly based on his prior form in Austin as both of his previous United Stats Grand Prix appearances have seen him finish in the top ten with his current team. In fact, one this two-and-a-half seasons in the sport, this track is the only one in which he's finished in the points in 100 per cent of his races.
