Saturday 12:30pm: Bournemouth vs Tottenham
Premier League match at Vitality Stadium
TV: TNT Sport

Tottenham to win

Tottenham look like a completely different side under Ange Postecoglou and once again look capable of competing for a place in the Champions League, despite losing Harry Kane over the summer.

Spurs were brilliant against Manchester United last time out, especially in the second half and look like they are on their way to becoming the league’s great entertainers. They face a tough challenge against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The Cherries have picked up just one point from their opening two games and will be desperate to avoid another defeat and put themselves under even more pressure in the battle to escape relegation.

Bournemouth provided Liverpool with a stern challenge at Anfield last time out and will make life difficult for Spurs on Saturday. However, Postecoglou’s side should be bouncing after last week’s win over United and should have just about enough to win claim another three points.

Over 3.5 goals

Spurs may have unlocked a newfound attacking threat under Postecoglou, but they are also less than convincing at the back. Postecoglou’s men collapsed midway through the first half against Brentford, conceding two goals in the space of nine minutes.

Tottenham deservedly beat Manchester United last week but were also fortunate not to find themselves two goals down at half time, such were the chances they presented to United. In fact, United actually had a higher XG than Tottenham last week, so Bournemouth should get plenty of chances on Saturday.

Spurs and Bournemouth shared 10 goals in their two league games last season, with Spurs coming from two goals down to win 3-2 at Bournemouth last October. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a similarly high-scoring game this weekend.

Son Heung-Min to score anytime

Tottenham have had no trouble replacing Harry Kane’s goals so far, scoring four times in their opening two games. However, none of those goals have come from forward players.

Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal got themselves on the scoresheet in the opening-day draw with Brentford, while Pape Sarr and a Lisandro Martinez own goal saw them home against United. That is simply not sustainable and Spurs will need their forward players to start chipping in if they are to turn a good start into a good season.

Son Heung-Min has been Spurs’ most prolific player over the last few seasons apart from Kane and needs to start rediscovering his goalscoring form.

He has looked a little out of sorts in Postecoglou’s system but did come close to scoring last weekend  after weaving his way through the United defence. He can open his account for the season on Saturday afternoon.

Over 4.5 cards

It is only early days, but there has already been an explosion in the number of cards issued in the Premier League since new referee directives were introduced over the summer, calling for more bookings for dissent and time wasting.

A total of 92 cards have been issued in 19 league games at a rate of over 4.8 cards per game, which is significantly higher than last season’s average of 3.7 cards per game. Spurs and Bournemouth have been two of the better disciplined sides in the league this season, amassing five yellow cards and four yellow cards respectively.

Bournemouth are currently the fifth-best disciplined side in the division, while Spurs are ninth in the
league’s disciplinary table. However, their early-season averages are still quite high and there is every chance that we will see a flurry of cards on Saturday.

Bournemouth to have five or more shots on target

“Angeball” has brought exciting football back to Tottenham for the first time since the days of
Mauricio Pochettino. Unfortunately for Tottenham fans, it has brought excitement at both ends of the pitch.

Spurs have actually lost both of their games on expected goals, conceding more than two expected
goals against in each of their two league games. They have faced six shots on target in each of their games, while United and Brentford managed a combined 33 shots against them.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, have managed five shots on target in each of their two league games and
can cause plenty of problems for the Spurs defence.
