Four Casinos Get Retail Ohio Sports Betting Licenses

Regulators in Ohio gave their approval to in-person sports betting licenses to eight applicants last week. Three of the state's professional sports teams and four casinos are among the first to receive the retail confirmations.

The Commission approved all but two of the 10 applications for a retail sportsbook license during its Sept. 7 meeting. The first round of license approvals went to the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, Columbus Crew, Hollywood Casino Toledo, Jack Cleveland Casino, Thistledown Racino and Muirfield Village Golf Club. Commission has yet to make a decision on the retail license applications tied to FC Cincinnati.

New law legalized Ohio sports betting states New Year's Day 2023. The first date that licensees can start taking wagers is January 1st. Jack Entertainment plans to offer Vegas-style sportsbooks on its properties. Browns have a deal with Bally's, Reds have partnered with BetMGM, Columbus Crew have teamed up with Tipico, Hollywood's retail sports Betting partner is Penn Entertainment, and Muirfield has designated Parx Interactive as its sportsbook provider.
