Gambling in Ohio: Which pro sports teams have been approved

Cleveland Browns, Columbus Crew and Cincinnati Reds have been approved for sports gambling. The new rules for companies looking to set up a sports betting shop in Ohio go into effect on January 1st.

Eight companies were approved for licenses to offer gambling. Two pro sports teams were not approved. 300 type C licenses were awarded to bars, restaurants and other suppliers. The commission also approved its fourth batch of rules surrounding the operations of Ohio’s legalized sports gambling, including requiring approved license-holders to submit a plan to address and prevent disordered and problem gambling and will consider the fifth set of the rules on October 5. 33% of applicants have not submitted required materials about the employees and leadership personnel that will be tasked with operating the company's sports betting.

JACK Cleveland Casino, Jack Thistledown Racino, Cleveland Browns Football Company, Crew SC Stadium Company and Muirfield Village Golf Club Subsidiary have been approved for gambling in Ohio.
