Golf betting tips: Made in HimmerLand, John Deere Classic and Women’s US Open

It’s another busy week of golfing action with events taking place on the DP World Tour, PGA Tour and LPGA Tour.

The Made in HimmerLand in Denmark is the attraction on the DP World Tour this week, while the John Deere Classic provides the PGA offering in Illinois. Meanwhile, it’s major week again on the LPGA Tour with the women’s US Open heading to Pebble Beach, California.

Consistent Spaniard set to shine

At 6,646 yards, HimmerLand Golf & Spa Resort is not a beast of a course by any stretch of the imagination so solid approach play and a hot putter are required for success in Denmark.

While there has never been a big emphasis on driving accuracy here, it never hurts to consistently find the fairway and Spaniard Adrian Otaegui is unrivalled in that department on the DP World Tour this season.

The 30-year-old is also third in strokes gained from tee to green and second in strokes gained with his approach shots, while his rankings of eighth for strokes gained around the green and 27th for greens in regulation percentage further boost his claims.

Otaegui was also third in the 2016 edition and 16th three years later, so he clearly has a liking for this sort of set-up, and he arrives off the back of a second-place finish at the KLM Open.

Tip: Outright winner – Adrian Otaegui @ 28/1 with bet365

Defending champion in confident mood

Oliver Wilson ended a near-eight-year wait for a second European title at last year’s event, holding off Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson to win by a stroke with a tournament record score of 21 under par.

The Englishman struggled to kick on in 2023 but he produced a confidence-boosting tied-second finish at the British Masters last time out, negotiating the tricky Brabazon course at The Belfry well.

Wilson was second in greens in regulation and ninth in strokes gained from tee to green last week, so it’s pleasing to see these two facets of his game back on song. He’ll be in with a chance of defending his title successfully if he replicates that kind of form for the second week running.

Tip: Outright winner – Oliver Wilson @ 50/1 with bet365

John Deere Classic golf betting tips

Solid driver can aid Mitchell

For the third straight week on the PGA Tour, low scoring is expected at a course that provides plenty of birdie chances, with 19 under par  or better the winning score in 12 of the last 13 editions.

A strong driver of the ball should have a big advantage at TPC Deere Run and Keith Mitchell stands out in this field, as he is second in total driving (distance and accuracy combined).

The 31-year-old, who finished T20 at the US Open on his latest outing, is also fifth in strokes gained off the tee and he was seventh on his debut here in 2018.

Tip: Outright winner – Keith Mitchell @ 28/1 SP with bet365

Tarren rediscovering touch

After a poor first quarter of the year, Callum Tarren has been picking up over recent weeks and he arrives off the back of a T29 finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

The Englishman is one of the bigger hitters on the PGA Tour and if he can wield the driver with authority this week, there is every chance he can contend and improve on his sixth-placed finish on debut last year.

Tip: Outright winner – Callum Tarren @ 90/1 with bet365

Women's US Open golf betting tips

Khang in line for major breakthrough

The Women’s US Open takes place at Pebble Beach for the first time this week and Megan Khang looks like she is ready to add a first major trophy to her collection.

Khang has saved her best for the two majors that have already been played this season, finishing T9 at the Chevron Championship and then T3 at the recent US PGA Championship.

Pebble Beach can be a tricky test even before the wind picks up and the America’'s accurate driving, which has her 11th in the stats for accuracy, can help pave the way for a successful week.

The 25-year-old is also 24th in greens in regulation, so she is hitting the dancefloor on a regular basis, while her up-and-down skills around the green should also come into effect on this course.

Tip: Outright winner – Megan Khang @ 40/1 with bet365
