Hawks vs. Nuggets prediction and odds for NBA Summer League (Value on total)

The Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets will make their second appearances of the Summer League on Sunday night with Denver set as a slight favorite.

The Hawks have some solid young talent (AJ Griffin, Kobe Bufkin) on their roster, but they scored just 76 points in their Summer League opener.

Meanwhile, Denver opted not to play Christian Braun in Summer League, leaving Peyton Watson as the top dog for the team.

The Nuggets lost to Milwaukee, 92-85, in their opener on Friday. Which team gets in the win column on Sunday?

Here are the odds and my favorite bet for this matchup:

Hawks vs. Nuggets odds, spread and total

Spread

  • Hawks +1.5 (-110)
  • Nuggets -1.5 (-110)

Moneyline

  • Hawks: -105
  • Nuggets: -115

Total

  • 176.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Hawks vs. Nuggets prediction and pick

I don’t love betting on either side in this matchup, as I believe these two teams are pretty equal from a talent perspective, so I’m going to look to the total.

Neither team scored a high number of points in their first Summer League matchup, and Atlanta shot just over 33.0 percent from the field as a team against the Sacramento Kings.

While there is likely going to be some positive regression, I could see this matchup landing in the 80s, which would fall below this total in most instances.

Denver has a solid scorer in Watson, but after that the team doesn’t have many proven NBA pieces, making it hard for me to expect a bigger game scoring the ball.

Pick: UNDER 176.5 (-110)
