John C. Mabee Stakes Predictions, Best Bets, Odds

Going Global and Going to Vegas are the favorites in Saturday's $250,000 John C. Mabee Stakes at Del Mar. The Irish-bred filly won her first race on the grass last year. Park Avenue and Avenue de France are less than impressive. Burgoo Alley is the only one to finish outside the top three.

Going Global has been consistent since arriving in America two winters ago. She's won 8-of-11 in the U.S. all of which came in stakes races. Two starts back she finished third behind Ocean Road and Going to Vegas in Grade 1 Gamely. Last time she won the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon at Del Mar.

Going to Vegas is the favorite in the race. She is coming back from a bad start to the year. Flavien Prat is in charge.   in this race, going to Las Vegas has more early speed than the favourite.

Avenue de France has finished first or second in four consecutive stakes races. She is running well recently but is best going a little shorter than the 9 furlongs of the John C. Mabee.

Park Avenue is a speedy filly from the barn of John Sadler. She won two of three starts on turf. The way she backed out last time against Going Global does not leave me with much confidence in her this time.

Burgoo Alley is the third of three horses from the D'Amato barn. She was a Grade 3 stakes winner at Santa Anita last fall. Last month she finished second in the Yellow Ribbon.

Bellamore is a daughter of Empire Maker trained by Simon Callaghan. She won a Del Mar allowance race next time out. Bellamores is going to race in a Grade 2 stakes race at 1 1/8 miles.

Eddie's New Dream is a California-bred daughter of Square Eddie. She has finished first or second in 6-of-9 career tries on the turf.
