Laurie Daley Manly job: Sea Eagles in talks with rugby league legend, Des Hasler

Laurie Daley is interested in joining Manly as a consultant from next season. The former NSW State of Origin coach was interviewed for the Manley's top job in 2016 but was eventually replaced by Trent Barrett. Daly is a current Australian selector and helped Mal Meninga pick the Kangaroos’ World Cup squad. The NRL blocked a move by Wests Tigers to employ Dyer as the club's halves coach in 2019 due to his links to the betting industry.

Sea Eagles are in talks with Des Hasler about the Manly job.

Des Hasler has until the end of the week to decide if he will remain as Sea Eagles coach. The club imposed a deadline on the veteran mentor to accept a raft of changes to his powers. Haslers dream scenario is to be granted a 12-month extension and work with Cronulla assistant Josh Hannay for the next two years before Hannays takes control as coach in 2025. The changes include Hasles stepping away from recruitment decisions and allowing the club to appoint his assistant coaches. Anthony Seibold is the preferred long-term option to replace Hasling. He is considering taking the Sea Eagle's to court over the handling of their pride jersey fiasco.
