NRL 2022: Des Hasler, sacked, Manly Sea Eagles, fans revolt, cancel memberships, pride jersey

Des Hasler's contract was terminated immediately with a year to run on his contract. Anthony Seibold is the favourite to replace Haslers. Fans are angry and some are threatening to cancel their membership. The club's owner Scott Penn is accused of making a bad decision. Tom and Jake Trbojevic are unsettled by the decision and are unhappy with their coach Des Haslar. The player and coach won two premierships for the club as a player in 1987 and 1996 and two more as coach in 2008 and 2011. They are also unhappy about the sacking of their manager Dessie.

Tony Hall and Gavin Dinsdale support new Manly CEO Tony Mestrov. Mark Carroll believes the decision not to tell Des Hasler about the pride jersey sealed his fate. The Sea Eagles lost seven straight games after the rainbow jersey controversy. Seven of the team's best players withdrew from their Round 20 match against the Roosters on religious and cultural grounds. The club refused to give Haslers a contract extension. He is considering legal action against them. It is not clear if he will find another job. Manley legend Mark Carrol believes Des has fallen on his sword. Gavin believes Tony is a good CEO.
