Following a trend in the rest of Ohio, sports betting at Hollywood Mahoning Valley recovered in March after taking a hit the month before.

Pointsbet Ohio sportsbook which has an online sports betting license agreement with Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Racecourse reported $5,676,198 in online sports gaming receipts last month, paying out $4,992,392 in winnings and $653,885 in taxable revenue.

That’s an 8.15% increase over February’s receipts, but not as large as the $7.4 million pulled in during January when online sports betting first became legal in Ohio.

Barstool, which offers retail sports betting at Hollywood Mahoning Valley also increased receipts in March to $1,338, 425 compared to $1,184,943 in February, and $1,239,428 in January.  According to information from the Ohio Lottery, $1,145,046 were paid out in winnings in March.

"As predicted, March was a month of recovery after Ohio sports betting took a sharp hit in February,” said BetOhio.com analyst Dru James. “Though numbers fell at the end of the NFL season, March Madness and the NBA brought more betting opportunities to Ohioans, resulting in a 15% increase in overall handle with a figure of $738 million.”
