Mariners vs Braves Prediction

The Seattle Mariners will start a three-game set with the Atlanta Braves this Friday from Truist Park on Apple TV.

Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle enters at 21-22 after dropping two of three to Boston. The Mariners couldn’t follow up a strong game one, and they’ll look to get back above .500 this weekend in Georgia. The Seattle offense is scoring 3.67 runs per game, while batting .227, with a .308 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Jarred Kelenic doubled in the series finale at Fenway, and he leads the team in batting (.282). Ty France comes into ATL on a ten-game hit streak, and he leads the team in hits with 45. Teoscar Hernandez has a hit in five of the last six, and he’s up to a team-lead 22 RBI.

Bryce Miller (2-0, 0.47 ERA, 43 Ks) will start for Seattle. The rookie pitcher is off a great start through three MLB starts. Miller burst onto the scene with a ten-strikeout performance in Oakland, before tossing shutout ball against Houston and Detroit last week. All three outings were quality starts, and he’ll look to get things going against a tough Atlanta team Friday.

Braves Betting Preview

Atlanta moved to 27-16 after taking two of three from Texas. The Braves responded to a four-game skid by playing well versus the Rangers, and they’ll look to start this home stand successfully this weekend. The Atlanta offense is scoring 3.55 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .337 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. has homered in four straight games, and he’s leading Atlanta in BA (.345) and hits (58). Sean Murphy homered in the series finale with Texas, and he’s up to a team-lead 34 RBI.

Bryce Elder (3-0, 1.94 ERA, 79 Ks) will get the ball for Atlanta. The second-year pitcher has matched his fellow Bryce’s effort with a strong opening to the 2023 season himself. Elder has pitched four quality starts, with all four being scoreless outings. Elder has only allowed three runs over his last three starts, and he’ll look to keep rolling against Seattle here at home.

Seattle vs Atlanta Trends

Seattle is 22-21 against the spread this season, with a 22-19-4  O/U record. Atlanta is 19-24 ATS this year, with a 22-18-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Seattle will face a stiff task this weekend in Georgia, but game one could favor the pitchers. The Braves and the Mariners will face off in what could end up being the battle of the Bryce’s, as both squads will send out a strong young arm. Bryce Elder may hold an advantage, being able to take the hill at home, but Bryce Miller has been a bit more impressive, and he may surprisingly be able to hold his own. This will also mark a return to Truist Park for Atlanta after a cross-country road trip that saw them take a few blows, so while I like buying into the theme on the mound, this feels like a ballgame the Braves will bring home.
