The Miami Hurricanes baseball team beat North Carolina State 4-2 to clinch pool D and advance to the ACC semifinals. Miami will conclude Pool play on Friday afternoon versus Duke. The Miami baseball team took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an Edgardo Villegas two-run home run. North Carolina State answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on an Eli Serrano III two-run single to even the score. Miami took the lead for good on a Renzo Gonzalez single in the fourth inning.

The Hurricanes added an insurance run in the eighth to close out the scoring. Miami plays Duke on Friday at 3 PM. Even with a loss to Duke, Miami advances to the semifinals by winning the tiebreaker as the highest seed. The Hurricanes took two out of three versus Duke in Coral Gables last weekend.

Five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott, four-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader, four-star DL T.A. Cunningham, four-star safety Zaquan Patterson and four-star tight end KJ Duff are projected to commit to Miami by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Miami currently has the 24th-ranked 2024 Class by On3.

Brad Crawford of 247 Sports named Kinchens as one of 10 “College football defensive stars primed for monster seasons.” Crawford called Kinchens the top playmaking safety in college football. Kinchens and James Williams form the top safety tandem in the ACC per Crawford.

David Lake of Inside the U examined some of the early betting lines for the Miami Hurricanes football team ahead of the 2023 season. As expected Miami is a double-digit underdog versus Clemson and Florida State. Miami is also an underdog versus Texas A&M. Miami is favored in the other games Lake discussed.
