Milwaukee Brewers vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction 9-2-23 MLB Picks

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in game two of their three-game set in MLB action from American Family Field on Saturday. The Brew Crew drew first blood on Friday, Can the Phils exact revenge here? Let’s dive in and find out.

Phillies Stumble In Opener

The Philadelphia Phillies came into Friday’s series opener looking to build up some steam, but instead, fell flat on their faces by a score of 7-5. The loss dropped Philadelphia to 74-60 on the year, sitting 15 games back in the NL East while comfortably sitting atop the NL Wild Card mountain. Nick Castellanos leads the Phillies with 146 hits along with 22 home runs and 83 RBIs while Bryson Stott is right behind with 144 hits. Kyle Schwarber has a team-high 38 home runs with a team-high 86 RBIs of his own and Alec Bohm has 82 RBIs. Schwarber has the unfortunate distinction of leading the Phillies with 173 strikeouts this season. Aaron Nola will start here and is 12-8 with a 4.30 ERA and 174 strikeouts this season.

Brewers Keep Climbing

The Milwaukee Brewers managed to pick up another W to keep their roll going and improving to 75-60 on the year, leading the NL Central by 3.5 games. Christian Yelich leads the Brewers with 140 hits, 68 RBIs and a .281 batting average as well as a .367 OBP while Willy Adames comes in with a team-leading 22 home runs with Yelich just four off of the pace at 17. William Contreras leads the Brewers with 32 doubles while Adames has the unfortunate distinction of leading the Brewers with 137 strikeouts this season. Colin Rea will start for Milwaukee here and is 5-5 with a 5.11 ERA and 85 strikeouts this season.

Chris’ Pick

I’m looking at the over again. I’m not a Colin Rea fan, and the Phillies have been pretty strong against righties in the last month or so. On the other hand, the Brewers have been sneaky good against righties themselves and Nola’s had a problem with giving up runs (and home runs) on the road this season. We had 12 runs in the opener, I think we could see something similar here. Give me the over.
