MLB parlay picks April 17: Bet on Padres’ Juan Soto

We’re targeting a trio of player props in our parlay picks for Monday.

The pregame narrative: Juan Soto is off to a slow start but there’s reason to be optimistic. Jose Ramirez continues to be a consistent producer and we’re expecting another solid day from the infielder at the plate. Thirdly, the steady Marcus Semien is staring down a plus matchup after an impressive weekend.

MLB odds as of 11:52 a.m. ET on 04/17/23.

MLB parlay picks

Parlay: Soto over 0.5 hits + Ramirez over 0.5 hits + Semien over 1.5 total bases (+302)

Soto over 0.5 hits (-210): Soto isn’t off to an outstanding start at the dish. The San Diego Padres superstar is slashing .172/.351/.379 to open the year with more strikeouts (16) than hits (10).

His strong discipline at the plate, however, has netted him 16 walks. We’re expecting him to be swinging the stick plenty against the Atlanta Braves with Max Fried on the mound. In 22 at-bats versus the lefty, Soto has eight hits.

This is also Fried’s first start since March 30 as he comes back from a hamstring injury. His first and only start of 2023 wasn’t overly impressive, as he gave up four hits across 3.1 innings.

Soto’s .284 career batting average suggests a hot streak is coming up. The conditions are right for that on Monday.

Other parlay picks

Ramirez over 0.5 hits (-235): Ramirez continues to be a tough out at the plate. Although the power hasn’t been there through the early portion of the year (one home run), he’s still finding ways to get on base. His .290/.400/.468 slash line demonstrates his ability to hit for contact and his discipline.

His matchup is too good to ignore, battling Matthew Boyd and the Detroit Tigers. Ramirez has dominated the Tigers’ lefty, posting 10 hits in 20 at-bats including five for extra bases with three homers. The combination of contact and power versus Boyd are encouraging signs for continued success.

His consistency this season is another massive plus. Ramirez has at least one hit in 14 of 16 appearances this year.

Semien over 1.5 total bases (-112): Semien’s big weekend has us expecting more of the same.

The Texas Rangers infielder slashed .417/.500/.750 in the team’s three games against the Houston Astros. His performance, which included a home run and five RBI, is a big reason why the squad won the series.

Texas faces off against the Kansas City Royals and it’s Jordan Lyles who’ll take the mound. Semien has hit Lyles well, slashing .500/.565/.850 in 23 plate appearances.

Semien has gone over this mark in five of his last eight games.
