MLB parlay picks May 2: Bet on Guardians’ Ramirez against Yankees

All 30 MLB teams are in action on Tuesday and we’re looking for three hits for a nice payday.

The pregame narrative: Arizona Diamondbacks Ketel Marte and Christian Walker both make our parlay as they stare down a plus matchup. Jose Ramirez is facing one of MLB’s best pitchers, but his talent and history versus this certain starter make him someone we’re confident in.

MLB parlay picks

Parlay: Marte over 0.5 hits + Walker over 0.5 hits + Ramirez over 0.5 hits (+217)

Marte over 0.5 hits (-278): Marte isn’t blowing anyone away with his start to the season, but he’s been fine.

The utility player is batting .253, a decent chunk below his career .279 batting average. He does have a hit in five of his last eight outings with seven total over this stretch.

The switch-hitter has hit lefties (.301) better than righties (.268) in his career, but Texas Rangers starter Jon Gray is a right-handed hurler he has had no problems with. Marte has 13 hits in 31 at-bats against Gray, including four extra-base knocks, according to Swish Analytics.

The Rangers starter isn’t entering this contest with great form, either, ceding 10 hits in his last 11.1 innings pitched while posting a 4.76 ERA during this time.

Other parlay picks

Walker over 0.5 hits (-210): Marte isn’t the only Diamondbacks player with a history of getting to Gray. Walker also boasts some impressive numbers against the veteran.

The first baseman has eight hits in 23 at-bats against Gray, cracking four extra-base hits off of him.

Walker is also entering this contest with some recent results we can get behind. The right-handed hitter is slashing .353/.405/.618 across his last nine games. He has a trio of doubles and two homers during this heater.

Gray’s 1.45 WHIP at home is noticeably higher than his 1.24 WHIP on the road this year which is worth noting with Tuesday’s game being at Choctaw Stadium.

Ramirez over 0.5 hits (-165): Ramirez is one of the better hitters in baseball and his odds to record a hit don’t typically dip this low.

There’s a simple explanation for that, though, and it’s Gerrit Cole. The New York Yankees star owns the second-best ERA (1.11) in baseball while surrendering just 23 hits in 40.2 innings of work.

We have, however, seen Cole give up more contact in recent outings. Despite allowing just 13 hits in his first four starts of the year, he has given up 10 across his last two appearances.

Ramirez’s history against Cole works in his favour. He’s slashing .333/.417/.700 in 30 at-bats versus the New York pitcher with six extra-base hits (including three home runs).

Ramirez has a hit in five of his last six games with a .381 batting average during this stretch.
