MLB parlay picks May 25: Bet on Braves’ Riley, Acuna Jr.

Thursday’s MLB slate is a little light with just 20 games on the schedule, but that’s more than enough for our parlay.

The pregame narrative: Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. are two of the Atlanta Braves’ best bats, and both are staring down a plus matchup. Christopher Morel is absolutely clubbing the baseball, making him a great choice to record a hit.

MLB parlay picks

Parlay: Riley over 0.5 hits + Acuna Jr. over 1.5 total bases + Morel over 0.5 hits (+300)

Riley over 0.5 hits (-240): We’re pretty confident Riley can deliver on this wager for several reasons.

The first is his recent form. The Atlanta infielder has a hit in seven consecutive outings, slashing .400/.429/.600 with five doubles. Going even further back, he has a knock in 10 of his last 11.

The Braves square off with the Philadelphia Phillies, meaning Riley will go head-to-head with Aaron Nola. That matchup greatly favours Riley, as he has 18 hits in 45 at-bats against the righty with three home runs and five doubles per Swish Analytics.

Nola is having a disappointing campaign thus far, posting a 4.31 ERA while ceding 54 hits across 62.2 innings of work.

Other parlay picks

Acuna Jr. over 1.5 total bases (-121): An exceptional hitter in a plus matchup is a play we’ll gladly add to this parlay.

Acuna Jr. is smashing the ball as of late, posting a .641 SLG across his last 10 outings thanks to four home runs. Naturally, he’s cleared this line in seven games during this stretch.

Acuna Jr. is unsurprisingly enjoying a great season as a whole. Through 49 games, he’s posting a .330/.419/.576 slash line.

Like his teammate Riley, Acuna Jr. too also boasts a dominant resume in his meetings with Nola. In 39 at-bats, the Atlanta outfielder has 14 hits, including four home runs and four doubles. His four long balls are the most of any hitter vs. pitcher matchup on Thursday.

: Lastly, we were looking for someone destroying baseballs while also hitting for a respectable average. Morel checks both boxes.

Don’t let his size fool you, the 145 lbs Chicago Cubs youngster can absolutely mash. In 13 games this season, he has 19 hits with nine of those being homers. In fact, his five-game home run streak was snapped on Wednesday although he still owns a 13-game hit streak.

Continued success seems like the most likely scenario against New York Mets starter Carlos Carrasco. The veteran righty has been a mess this year, holding an 8.68 ERA in four appearances. He’s given up 19 hits across 18.2 innings pitched.
