MLB Player Props Today

Max Scherzer u4.5 Strikeouts (-128), FanDuel

Since returning from injury, Max Scherzer has been tremendously ineffective, posting a 9.45 ERA across two starts. He lasted only 4.0 innings in his first start of the American League Championship against Houston, allowing five earned runs. In his second outing, he did not make it out of the third inning, surrendering two earned runs on four hits before he departed. His breaking stuff has been noticeably flat and lacking deception this October. Arizona had the fifth-lowest strikeout rate of any team in baseball against right-handed pitching during the regular season. They should be able to avoid five strikeouts against Scherzer in this spot.

Brandon Pfaadt u1.5 Walks Allowed (-135), DraftKings

Brandon Pfaadt walked two batters in his final start against the Philadelphia Phillies, which marked the first time since September 5 that he had issued multiple free passes in a game. Pfaadt has been a strike-throwing machine during the postseason, with only three walks to 66 batters faced. Even facing a dangerous Texas lineup, Pfaadt should have little trouble commanding the strike zone and forcing hitters to earn their way on base. This is great value for this evening’s Game 3 in the desert.

MLBDFS Pick’em

Adolis Garcia Less Than 1.5 Total Bases, PrizePicks

Adolis Garcia had a three-hit performance in Game 1 of the World Series, including the game-winning, walk-off home run in the 11th inning. After that, it appears Arizona had seen enough and they no longer seem willing to throw him anything over the plate. In Game 2, Garcia walked and went hitless. According to Lance Brozdowski, Garcia has seen his swing rate plummet from 61% in the ALCS to 33% in the World Series, in large part due to the lack of strikes he is seeing when he is up to bat. It’s difficult to record multiple total bases when strikes are so few and far in between.
