NBA player props: Best bets for Monday, January 8 featuring Giannis, SGA, Devin Booker

We’ve got a light six-game slate in the NBA Monday, but there will be plenty of star power on display as bettors look for the best player props to target. Here’s a look at some of our favorite plays for the day’s action, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Tyler Herro under 2.5 3-pointers vs. Rockets (+130)

Since returning to the court, Herro is shooting 41.7% from deep. That’s an awesome clip for the Heat guard, who has gone over this line in two of the last three games. However, the Rockets are one of the best teams in the league at defending the perimeter. They rank first in opponent three-point percentage and seventh in opponent threes made. That’s a bad matchup for Herro, even if he gets volume. Take the under on this prop.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 6.5 assists vs. Wizards (-120)

The Thunder star is averaging 6.8 assists per game over his last eight games, going over this mark five times with two unders coming at six assists. This game might turn into a blowout, which is the only concern regarding this prop. The Wizards have given up the most assists to opponents per game this season, setting up SGA for a big night distributing the ball.

Devin Booker over 33.5 points + assists vs. Clippers (-120)

Booker has been relatively quiet as a scorer in the last two games, but he has been dishing the ball to his teammates more. The Suns guard is averaging 7.3 assists per game in his last 10, and there’s a chance he’ll need to take on more of a scoring role with Kevin Durant potentially sitting the second night of a back-to-back set. Booker is easily capable of clearing this line on points alone, and his recent assist totals make this an easy prop to take the over on.

Kristaps Porzingis over 9.5 rebounds vs. Pacers (+110)

The Celtics big man has been in and out of the lineup recently, and suffered an eye injury Saturday against the Pacers. He’s good to go for this contest, and should be able come down with double-digit rebounds here. Porzingis has gone over this mark four times in the last nine games, with two unders coming at nine boards. The Pacers are a league-average side when it comes to opponent rebounds, so the matchup isn’t too bad either.

Giannis Antetokounmpo over 36.5 points vs. Jazz (-125)

This is an unfortunate situation for Utah. The Bucks are coming off a bad loss to the Rockets, and Antetokounmpo had some blunt words about the team after the game. The Greek Freak likely takes it upon himself to get Milwaukee rolling in the right direction and dominates this contest. Antetokounmpo has been averaging 32.2 points per game over his last 10 games. He’s gone well over this mark in the last two contests, and Utah is 23rd in points allowed per game.
