The days of anytime touchdown scorers and receiving yard parlays are behind us with the NFL season ending at the beginning of February. But the hunger for player props doesn’t just go away with football’s finale each season.

NBA Player Props Today - Feb. 29: Odds, best bets and more for Thursday NBA action

First, let’s take a look at the best matchups of the day with the biggest stars in the lineup:

Steph Curry player props: Over 26.5 points (-122 or better)

Curry has been in a slump since the All-Star break, shooting under 40% from the field in three of four games and scoring under 20 points in two of his last three.

But the Warriors are fighting to squeeze their way out of the play-in and into a top-6 seed spot with 25 games left on their schedule.

An opportunity to catch a Knicks team that’s been quite wonky over the last 10 games seems like the perfect spot for Curry and the Knicks to be in.

Expect Curry to get back into a rhythm tonight in the Garden and hit this Over.

Nikola Jokic NBA props: Over 12.5 rebounds (+100 or better)

The All-Star break was extremely kind to the reigning NBA Finals MVP. Jokic is riding a streak of four straight games with a triple-double – and they’re all well over that 10-10-10 threshold.

Looking specifically at his rebounds, The Joker has cruised past this 12.5 number in all four games, averaging 16 a game in that span.

Bam Adebayo is and always has been an undersized center, so Jokic shouldn’t have much of a problem keeping this streak of Overs going and knocking another one in for us in tonight’s 2024 NBA Finals rematch.

Anthony Davis player props: Over 13.5 rebounds (-115 or better)

The Lakers are playing the second night of a back-to-back that saw them come back from 21 points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Clippers in the teams’ final matchup as co-tenants of Crypto.com Arena.

LeBron James carried the load in the win and Davis was able to take a bit of a back seat. That’ll help him play a bigger role tonight against the Wizards, who already don’t present much of a problem to Davis in the paint and on the wing.

Davis has averaged exactly 13.5 rebounds per game since the All-Star break, but no matchup has looked as easy as tonight’s does against the team tied for the worst record in the league.

A proposition — or “prop” — bet is placed on an event happening or not, often during a game. Take two quick examples:

• Will Player X record a triple-double?
• Will Player Y hit Over/Under 3.5 3-pointers?

Those examples are specific to player props, but there are game and team props as well. We’ll stick to player props in this section for simplicity’s sake.

Let’s illustrate an example of what a prop bet may look like. A sportsbook may offer a Jayson Tatum scoring prop in which bettors can wager on whether he will score over or under 31.5 points.

• If he scores 32 or more points, he goes Over.
• If he finishes with 31, he falls Under.

It doesn’t stop at points. You can bet on assists, rebounds, steals, blocks and combinations. Bettors can wager on head-to-head props as well. This is particularly fun when two superstars face off.

Prop bets settle independently of a game’s outcome. For example, a winning bet on a player’s performance does not hinge on his team winning.

Like all other bets, props are accompanied by odds as well. Oftentimes, the odds will be similar as oddsmakers produce a number that a player ultimately winds up very close to.
