Notre Dame at Clemson line, prediction, odds: Will Irish send Tigers to a three-game losing streak?

Saturday’s matchup between Notre Dame and Clemson is a rematch of last season’s Week 10 battle. The Fighting Irish came out on top in that meeting and are slightly favored ahead of this year’s Week 10 matchup with the Tigers.

How different are things in Death Valley at the moment? Very different. Dabo Swinney’s squad enters this game having lost consecutive games in the same season for the first time since 2011 — unfamiliar territory, to say the least. And rather than heading down their usual path toward Playoff contention, the Tigers are currently fighting for a crack at a bowl game.

Clemson’s defense is still as stout as recent years. The Tigers are sixth in the nation in yards allowed per game. However, the offense hasn’t scored more than 20 points in each of the last three games.

The Fighting Irish could pull the game film of last year’s 35-14 win over Clemson, but they might even be better suited to focusing on what they’ve done right in recent weeks, which is locking down on defense and creating turnovers. Notre Dame forced five turnovers each against USC and Pitt. If anything like that continues, Sam Hartman and the Irish offense won’t be forced into going above and beyond versus a very solid Clemson defense.

This is the fourth meeting between these teams in the past four seasons. They split two meetings in 2020, including in the ACC title game, on top of last year’s game at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame is one of the better teams against the spread this season at 7-2 while Clemson is one of the NCAA’s worst at 2-6. Keep that in mind when surveying the sportsbooks in the lead-up to a wager.
