Notre Dame football get insanely good odds to make CFP field

There’s quite a bit of hype around the Notre Dame football team in 2024. With a brand new quarterback in Riley Leonard and a couple of new wide receivers for him to throw to, the offense is expected to be really good. Throw the man who tutored Jayden Daniels into the mix in offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, and you’ve got a potent formula.

Now add in the Al Golden defense and Xavier Watts. Notre Dame football is supposed to be very good. The odds are out, and Vegas believes the Fighting Irish are playoff-bound.

As USA Today pointed out, at least one bookmaker has given the Notre Dame football team very good odds of making the upcoming 12-team playoff format. In fact, it turns out that the Golden Domers have some of the best odds of any team in college football.

Notre Dame football checks in with +100 odds.  That may not sound like great odds, if you’re not a gambler, but that number means that if you laid $100 on the Irish to get into the playoffs, you would only win $100.

Compare that to teams like LSU, who are +275. Iowa is at +700. Even Alabama is a bit worse of a bet at +120.

No, that +100 isn’t the best in the country. That belongs to Georgia at -900. In other words, you’d have to bet $9 to win $1. Ohio State (-800), Texas (-450) and Oregon are all ranked ahead of the Irish when it comes to the best odds to make the playoffs this year.

But the fact of the matter is that Notre Dame football is being very good odds to at least have a chance at a National Title run. That run has to start by making the playoffs.
