Wilgerbosdrift stallion Flower Alley had another good day at Turffontein on Saturday.

Not only did daughters of the former Gr1 Travers Stakes winner finish first and fourth in the R300 000 World Sports Betting Gr2  Gerald Rosenberg Stakes, another daughter finished a close up second in the WSB the SA Fillies Nursery on the same day.

After a lengthy weather enforced delay, and delayed to be run under the lights the Gerald Rosenberg Stakes was turned into a procession by Flower Alley 4yo Gilded Butterfly, the Stuart Pettigrew trained filly romping home to land the 2000m contest by four and a half lengths.

After the field had headed for the outside of the track into the home straight, the Maine Chance Farms bred filly was given her head 200m from home by Keagan de Melo, and, from there, Gilded Butterfly turned the race into a procession, running away to thump Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 SA Fillies Classic heroine Bless My Stars by a widening margin.

Another graded stakes winning daughter of Flower Alley, Bold Fortune, finished fourth.

It was a second graded win for Gilded Butterfly having also claimed the 4Racing Gr3 Yellowwood Handicap earlier this season.

Out of the Silvano mare Gallica Rose, Gilded Butterfly cost the Ackerman family R50 000 off the National Yearling Sale and has now won six of 17 starts with the classy filly having already earned R642 625 in prize money.

The meeting was abandoned after this race with plans to run the WSB Gr3 Gold Bowl this forthcoming weekend.
