Santa Anita roundup: Desert Dawn stuns Adare Manor in Oaks race

Desert Dawn won the Grade II Santa Anita Oaks by a neck. She earned 100 Kentucky Oaks qualifying points. The Kentucky Oakes is a sixteenth of a mile longer than the Santa Ana Oaks. The winner will be able to race at Churchill Downs on May 6th. Adare Manor didn't run her best race. It was her fourth attempt at graded stakes. Her previous best finish was fourth in the grade III Santa Ysabel on March 6.

Going Global won the Royal Heroine Stakes. The 4-year-old Mehmas filly was the 1-5 favorite. She's won seven of her nine races in the U.S. since coming over from Ireland.

Brooke Marie, 6, won the Monrovia Stakes at Santa Anita. She was trained by Eddie Kenneally and ridden by Juan Hernandez.

Cairo Memories won the $200,000 Grade III grass race for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita.
