SARATOGA 2022: Jackie’s Warrior odds-on in light Vanderbilt
Jackie’s Warrior is the prohibitive 1-5 morning-line favorite in today”s Alfred G. Vanderbilt Stakes. He comes into the race having won his three 2022 starts. Only two of Jackie‘s Warriors five opponents have a win in a graded stakes at any level. Long Range Toddy won the 2019 Rebel Stake but has failed to win since. Willy Boi is on a three-race winning streak. Allowance winners Doc Amster and Kneedeepinsnow complete the six-horse field.
Cross Border is going for a third straight win in the Bowling Green Handicap (G2) on Sunday. Arklow is the favorite, while Highland Chief is 5-2. The last four editions of the race have been won by sons of English Channel. The winner of this year's race is expected to be either Channel Maker or Channel Cat. It will be the first time that the winner will not be a son of a turf sire. They are Channel Made (2018), Channel C (2019) and Cross Border (2020, 2021).
