The Detroit Lions had a fantastic Week 1 performance against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Now the 1-0 Lions are traveling back home to take on the 0-1 Seattle Seahawks and are favored in the matchup.

Detroit is aiming to win the NFC North for the first time since 1993, while Seattle is hoping to keep pace with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West.

The Lions are one of the most exciting teams in the NFL right now. They gave fans big hopes in the offseason and preseason and then delivered in Week 1, beating the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs 21-20.

Now, it’s all about keeping up the momentum. Starting the season with a winning streak would be icing on the cake. Plus, Sunday’s game is something of a revenge match for the Lions after the Seahawks beat them 48-45 last October.

The team looks ready to take on Seattle at home in Ford Field.

The Seahawks had a disappointing loss in Week 1 to the LA Rams going down 30-13. Starting in the hole is never good, and they need a win to regain momentum at the beginning of the season.

Geno Smith was a standout last year, winning Comeback Player of the Year and cementing a three-year deal with the Seahawks. But against the Rams, he couldn’t seem to make a connection. He threw for just 112 yards against one of the weaker defenses in the league.

On top of that, Smith may be a bit exposed this week against the Lions strong pass rush. LT Charles Cross and RT Abe Lucas are both out for Sunday’s game.

The odds for the Lions to win it are shortening compared to a few days ago, but it still looks like a very winnable game for the Lions.

Instead of betting on Detroit to win, two better bets would be either team against the spread or the over. BetMGM has a shorter spread than some other sportsbooks, so we could see this going either way. The Lions could easily win by five or more, particularly with the Seahawks O-line looking patchy. But if you feel confident in Seattle playing better than last week, you could bet them to cover the spread even if they lose.

But maybe the best bet is to go for the over. The last time these two teams matched up, the total was 93. Of course, they’re two different teams this year, and the oddsmakers usually get the total pretty close. But set at 47 over/under, the over is not a stretch.

We may be a little bit down on Geno Smith, but you might want to bet the over on BetMGM for his passing yards at 246.5. Last year he averaged 251.8 yards per game. One bad Week 1 game against the Rams does not a bad quarterback make.

But maybe our favorite prop bet is on the Lions. We’d pick David Montgomery to get over 58.5 rushing yards.

In last week’s game, Montgomery got 74 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The Seattle defense let the Rams RB Kyren Williams run all over them last week (52 yards and two TDs), so we think it’s a good bet.
