Sony Open in Hawaii Odds & Favorites 2024: Aberg Leads Strong Early-Season Field

Following Chris Kirk's season-opening victory in The Sentry, a strong - and full - field remains in the 50th state as we look at the early Sony Open in Hawaii odds from our best golf betting sites ahead of making our PGA Tour picks for the week.

Si Woo Kim will look to defend his 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii title as only a mid-range contender in a much stronger field this week.

The Sony Open is receiving a boost from The Sentry's status as a PGA Tour signature event to open the 2024 PGA Tour season. Several of the big names from last week's field who don't typically play this event have stuck around in Hawaii.

This week's betting favorite is Ludvig Aberg, who enters the week at No. 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). Matt Fitzpatrick is the top-ranked golfer in the field at No. 8 in the OWGR. Fellow major winner Brian Harman is also making another appearance in the Sony Open but with a lackluster resume to date.

Here's our breakdown of the Sony Open in Hawaii odds and field to help with all of your golf picks.

Sony Open in Hawaii favorite 2024

Aberg is a prohibitive betting favorite in what is a much stronger field than usual for the Sony Open.

The young Swedish golf quickly soared to No. 30 in the OWGR with two international victories during golf's fall swing. Those wins include the PGA Tour's RSM Classic but in a field much weaker than this.

Wait for other books to post their Sony Open odds in hopes of finding a better price, but I wouldn't bet Aberg at anything below +2000 given the strength and depth of this field. There are far better value plays below this week's favorite.

Sony Open in Hawaii field notes

As mentioned, this is a very strong field for the Sony Open. The early-season event often gets skipped by many of the top names in the world rankings due to travel, but the larger field for The Sentry and its status as a signature event have helped boost the draw of this follow-up tournament on the islands.

Aberg is the headliner as the heavy favorite with two notable recent major winners close behind him on the oddsboard. We'll also see fan favorite Will Zalatoris return to action after missing most of 2023 due to a back injury; he returned to play the Hero World Challenge in December but finished last in the 20-man field.

Chris Kirk will be going for back-to-back wins to open the season. It was his first victory since The Honda Classic in late February.
