Speed Boat Beach Scratches From Sham
Speed Boat Beach is going to win the Cecil B. DeMille Dec. 4, 2022 at Del Mar.
Speed Boat Beach scratched from today's Grade III Sham Stakes going a mile on dirt. Baffert will probably rerout him to the Grade 3 San Vicente going seven furlongs on January 29th. The horse has won three of four starts on turf. The field for the Sham is: Newgate, Frankie Dettori, National Treasure, John Velazquez, Reincarnate, Juan Hernandez, Packs a Wahlop, Ramon Vazquez and Spun Intended.
The La Canada for older fillies and mares is the lone stakes at The Great Race Place next week. There are 13 horses nominated to the LaCanada. Six of them are exiting the Grade I La Brea at Santa Anita on Dec. 26. Chancery Way and Anacapa are potential new shooters.
The first mandatory payout of the Rainbow Pick 6 on Saturday returned $2,311,782. 840 winning tickets were sold. Big Summer, Thirsty John, Grazed My Heart, Leyas Candy, Coalinga Road and Leya Candy were the winning horses.
The inaugural Coast to Coast Pick 5 returned $1,017.70 on Saturday. Santa Anita will host a four-day race week starting Friday and ending with a special Martin Luther King Jr. holiday program on Monday Jan. 16.
