St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Mets Prediction 8-20-23 MLB Picks

The New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Sunday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. This will be the finale in a four-game series. The Mets took wins in both of the first two games, then on Saturday New York kept it going with a blowout victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York Mets

The Mets out-hit the Cardinals 7-5 in the opener of this series, pulling off a 4-2 victory. Friday’s game was an even bigger win for New York 7-1, thanks in part to Jeff McNeil’s four RBI and Brandon Nimmo’s two runs. On Saturday New York posted 13 hits in a 13-2 blowout win. Daniel Vogelbach had a grand slam and Pete Alonso finished with a homer, two RBI and three runs.

In the starter role for the Mets on Sunday it’ll be Carlos Carrasco. Over 18 starts this year Carrasco is 3-6 with a 6.40 ERA and 62 Ks in 84.1 innings. Carrasco is 1-3 with a 7.18 ERA over his last seven starts, striking out 23 in 31.1 innings.

It’ll be Dakota Hudson in the starter role for the Cardinals on Sunday. This year in 10 games (four starts) Hudson is 4-0 with a 4.03 ERA and 25 Ks in 38.0 innings. He’s 4-0 with a 4.31 ERA over his last seven games (four starts).

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll take a stab on the Cardinals in this one. Realistically I’m not touching it, though. If nothing else we should have a pretty fun pitcher duel. Hudson has eight earned over his last three starts in a span of 18.2 innings. He’s 3-0 during that trio and on a nice run. As for Carrasco, he’s got 10 earned over his last three starts in 14.0 innings, but six of those earned came in a bad game versus KC. On Saturday in game three, St. Louis had a pretty miserable performance from their pitchers across the board. That makes 24 runs allowed over the last three games, and 32 over the last four. It’s been a rough stretch for the Cards but I don’t think they’ll get swept.
