State rakes in $26.4M in taxes from legal sports betting
Louisiana legalized retail and mobile sports betting in November 2021. October saw a monthly record of $255.5 million in gross revenue. Mobile operators generated the most revenue from parlay at $96 million since January 2022. Retail sports gambling generated $410,561 in taxes in October. Football wagers generated more than $26.4 million. Since January, mobile operators deducted more $21 million and collected $11 million of tax credits. The state collected the same amount from mobile betting through the first four months of fiscal year 2023 as it did through last six months in fiscal years 2022 and 2022 respectively.
