Louisiana expecting boost in sports betting revenue with football underway
Louisiana is expecting a boost in sports betting revenue with football season. Mobile apps brought in more than $2.8 million in wagers on football in August. Brick-and-mortar sportsbooks recorded $893,400 in football bets. The state has collected $18.3 million so far. The Legislative Fiscal Office estimated the state would collect $30 million during the first year of sports gambling. Mississippi got 67.5% of its sports bettting revenue in January, February, September and December. It has retail sportsbetting and no online wagering.
