Today's DFS Prop Picks (Friday, 8/4/23)

Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Friday, August 4, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.

PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.

Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests

PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.

The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.

You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

MLB DFS Props - Over/Under Picks for Today

Brown has struck out seven or more batters in four of his previous seven starts and matched six strikeouts in a fifth start. Tonight, he will be up against the Yankees, who are posting the ninth-highest K rate vs. right-handers over the previous three weeks with a rate of 24.9%. The Yankees are also posting a mediocre 83 wRC+ mark over this same span, which should help Brown avoid some trouble. It should also be noted that Brown has been better on the road in terms of ERA and K/9.

Allen has matched or eclipsed this total in four of his previous five starts, and although he has yet to eclipse it against these White Sox, circumstances have changed just a bit. The White Sox have posted the fifth-highest k rate vs. left-handers over the previous three weeks with a rate of 27.1% while also posting just a 5.9% walk rate. They have also essentially given up on the season since trading Lucas Giolito and Lance Lynn, which should make tonight a bit easier on the young Southpaw.

Jesus Luzardo less than 7.0 strikeouts

Although Luzardo has struck out more than seven batters in five of his previous seven starts, he has been lit up on more than one occasion this season, and that is exactly what could happen tonight. Over the previous three weeks, the Rangers are posting the third-highest walk rate vs. Southpaws with a rate of 13.1%. They are also hitting the ball very well over that same span as noted by their 110 wRC+ mark. This feels like a tough spot for Luzardo on the road and the Rangers have a great shot to attack here.

This might be a bit risky for Detmers, but he has struck out at least eight batters in six of his previous nine starts and has a solid matchup against the Mariners tonight. Over the previous three weeks, Seattle has posted the second-highest K rate vs. Southpaws with a rate of 30.6%. Detmers will also be at home in this one where has has posted a 12.3 K/9 mark compared to a 9.6 mark on the road.
