For the starter job in the Thursday opener the Angels will send out Reid Detmers. In his nine starts this year Detmers is 0-4 with a 4.93 ERA and 58 Ks in 45.2 innings. Detmers is 8-13 with a 4.42 career ERA in 39 games.

Houston Astros

Over on the Houston side, they lost to the Twins 7-5 in the Monday game and won 5-1 on Tuesday. In game three the Astros gave up 11 hits in an 8-2 loss. Starter Hunter Brown lasted 4.2 innings with five earned on six hits and two walks.

I’ll probably stay with Houston here. Detmers hasn’t been terrible lately on the other side, though. In his last three games combined Detmers has eight earned in 15.2 innings. That said, he’s just 0-1 in that time. As for the Astros, on Wednesday they fell behind early and couldn’t find much rhythm on the mound. I like Houston to bounce back in this opener, however.
