UNC basketball five bold predictions for 2022-23 season

UNC basketball starts the 2022-23 season on Monday night at home against UNCW. UNC has four of five starters returning from the team that went to the national championship game. They have added transfer Pete Nance and more depth on the bench. R.J. Davis is the forgotten player for most of the time, but he has a chance to win the Bob Cousy Award for the best point guard in college basketball.

UNC basketball is one of the favorites to win the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season and tournament. UNC will win it, but they will not win in the conference tournament, which is a trade-off for the NCAA Tournament. Caleb Love's draft projection currently stands as a second-round pick in most spots.

Love is coming back for another season to improve his game. North Carolina's non-conference schedule is tough this year. Hubert Davis is in his second season as head coach. He took a team that was on the bubble to the national championship game and beat Duke twice. If the Tar Heels win the whole thing, he could win national coach of the year award.
