Verstappen, Red Bull Sprinting Away as Favorites

Let's check in on the F1 Championship odds based on the betting odds from our best sports betting apps.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull are lapping the field.

Any shred of value in backing either the driver or constructor behind the powerful Red Bull beast in the F1 Championship odds is long gone just five races into the season. Both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, his Red Bull teammate, are in another universe and well ahead in the driver standings. The team is too in the constructor race ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Here is our look at the best 2023 F1 Championship odds for drivers and constructors (odds via our best sports betting apps).

F1 Championship betting analysis

Sergio Perez is the only driver even remotely within range of Verstappen. Pounce on the Barstool Sportsbook's price of +700, which is much better than the +500 through FanDuel.

There's some squinting value in sprinkling some messing around money on an even deeper dark horse and then crossing your fingers very tightly. With that in mind, head over to either FanDuel or Caesars.

FanDuel is offering Fernando Alonso at +5500, and he's as short as +2800 elsewhere. Meanwhile, Caesars is posting Lewis Hamilton at +6600, significantly longer than two of our other best sports betting sites that are sitting at +4000.

Verstappen has built such a gargantuan lead already that many of our best live betting sites are offering a "drivers championship without Verstappen" market.

F1 Championship odds 2023: Favorite

Max Verstappen (-700 via FanDuel)

Verstappen's edge over his teammate Sergio Perez is only slight. He sits atop the driver standings with 119 points, while Perez isn't far behind at 105, as of May 19.

But Verstappen is the golden boy of Red Bull, and the defending two-time champion. He'll always be the team's priority, which is why Verstappen is such a heavy favorite over Perez despite being close in the standings.

Verstappen has finished on the podium in every race so far, a sizzling run that includes three wins and two second-place finishes.

F1 Championship odds 2023: Contender

Sergio Perez (+700 via Barstool)

Sprinkling a little on Perez is enticing due to the small gap between him and Verstappen, and because the drop-off after Perez in the driver standings is comically gargantuan. Fernando Alonso sits in third at 75 points, 30 behind Perez.

The 33-year-old has finished off the podium just once over five races, logging two wins and two second-place results in the process.

F1 Championship odds 2023: Long shot

Lewis Hamilton (+6600 via Caesars)

The only real justification you need for tossing a little fun money on Hamilton is that he's a seven-time champion with 103 victories. He's also not far removed from taking the drivers' title in four straight seasons.

So he's never out of anything, even when facing a seemingly insurmountable deficit this early in the season while sitting in fourth on 56 points. That puts him a fair distance behind Alonso in third (75 points), and he's significantly trailing the two Red Bull front-runners.

F1 constructors championship odds as of Thursday, May 18 at 3:27 p.m. ET.

Constructors' championship betting analysis

Similar to the driver's standings with Verstappen, some of our best sportsbooks are offering a "constructors' championship without Red Bull" market.

The lead Verstappen's team holds over the field feels like even more of a chasm. But Caesars is the place to back the longest long shots, as it's offering both Aston Martin and Mercedes at +5000, while other books are posting those teams for +3300.

Constructors' championship odds 2023: Favorite

Red Bull (-6000 via FanDuel)

Just like their drivers, Red Bull has been an unstoppable point-accumulating machine. Red Bull has won every race so far and occupied the top two spots four times.

The team's lead over Aston Martin is otherworldly as a result. Red Bull is sprinting miles away at 224 points, while Aston Martin is a far distant second at 102 points.

Constructors' championship odds 2023: Contender

Aston Martin (+5000 via Caesars)

The only way to talk yourself in to backing Aston Martin is with a reaching yet true statement: It's racing, a car with many intricate parts is involved, and anything can happen.

There are breakdowns, crashes, and damanged wings. A long season lies ahead, and Aston Martin is still at least able to get out their binoculars and see Red Bull somewhere in the distance.

Constructors' championship odds 2023: Long shot

Ferrari (+10000 via FanDuel)

Ferrari sits in fourth on 78 points, a fair distance behind third-place Mercedes and its 96 points. The only real argument here comes down to price.

Back either Mercedes or Aston Martin at +5000 for the same reasons, and Mercedes also comes with plenty of recent championship pedigree. But there's a steep drop after those two on the oddsboard, and then yet another one following Ferrari before we get to Alpine at +300000, which is in another galaxy.

Ferrari are simply the only other team even remotely worth your attention in this market. If you squint really, really hard and perhaps also gaze at the heavens for a while, there's also a "hey, who knows, stuff happens, maybe?" path for Ferrari too.
