Washington Nationals vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction 7-6-23 MLB Picks

The Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals meet Thursday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the finale in a four-game series. The Reds took the first pair, then on Wednesday Cincinnati kept it up with a blowout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds took a 3-2 win in the opener of this set, and another win 8-4 on Tuesday. In the Wednesday matchup, Cincinnati scored three in the second inning and never looked back in a 9-2 victory. Graham Ashcraft went 6.0 innings in the start with one earned on seven hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the Thursday game, the Reds will turn to Brandon Williamson. In his nine starts this year (the first nine of his career) Williamson is 1-2 with a 5.56 ERA and 34 Ks in 43.2 innings.

Washington Nationals

Over on the Washington side, they were out-hit 16-7 in game two of this series and fell behind 5-0 early. On Wednesday the Nationals were out-hit 16-10 in the defeat. Starter Jonah Gray lasted 5.0 innings with three earned, eight hits and four walks.

It’ll be MacKenzie Gore in the start for the Nats on Thursday. In his 17 starts this year Gore is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA and 107 Ks in 88.1 innings. In his career Gore is 8-11 with a 4.49 ERA in 33 games (30 starts).

The Reds are 20-6 in the last 26 road games and 7-15 in their last 22 road games versus a lefty starter. Cincinnati is 1-4 in their last five Thursday games.

Meanwhile, the Nationals are 28-66 in their last 94 at home and 13-39 in the last 52 Thursday games. The over is 4-1 in Washington’s last five in game four of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Reds in this one. Williamson is just 0-2 over his last three starts however, so he’ll need a good outing and some help from the bats. In that trio, Williamson has eight earned over 12.0 total frames on 11 hits and five walks. On Wednesday Cincinnati had a great offensive evening with everybody in the lineup getting at least one hit. Seven different players had an RBI as well (Will Benson had two). The Reds are rolling right now and I like them to keep it up.
