Washington Nationals vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction 7-4-23 MLB Picks

The Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals meet Tuesday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Monday opener, the Reds eked out a victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds played the Padres over the weekend, winning two of three games. On Monday versus the Nationals, Cincinnati posted two runs in the fourth inning and held on for a 3-2 win. Starter Luke Weaver lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on six hits and a walk.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday matchup the Reds will send out Brett Kennedy in his season debut. Kennedy is 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA in six career starts.

Washington Nationals

Over on the Nationals’ side, they beat the Phillies twice in three games in their last series. In the Monday matchup Washington out-hit the Reds 8-7 but couldn’t complete the comeback. Jake Irvin went 6.0 innings in the start with three earned on six hits and a walk.

It’ll be Patrick Corbin in the start for the Nationals on Tuesday. Across his 17 starts this year Corbin is 5-9 with a 4.84 ERA and 66 Ks in 96.2 innings. He’s 92-112 with a 4.34 ERA in 295 career games (277 starts).

The Reds are 5-0 in the last five Tuesday games and 6-2 in the last eight in game two of a series. Cincinnati is 19-7 in their last 26 overall.

Meanwhile, the Nationals are 28-64 in their last 92 at home and 45-108 in their last 153 versus a team with a winning record. Washington is 6-20 in their last 26 Tuesday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with the Reds here. This one’s going to depend on how Corbin looks, at least early on. He had a couple of losses going last month with 11.0 innings, 10 earned, 18 hits and five walks combined. Corbin bounced back in his last start with 7.0 innings, zero earned, zero walks and five hits in a win over Seattle, though. On Monday Cincinnati fizzled out offensively after the fourth inning, but the bullpen held things together with 4.0 innings, zero earned, zero walks and two hits. I think the Reds can keep it going in game two.
