Wisconsin has won 16 consecutive games over Purdue, as the Badgers have developed a strong program that has been to 21 consecutive bowl games.

This Big Ten opener is on Friday night (7 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1) and has the potential to be a terrific game and a great way to start a football weekend.

Wisconsin enters the game as a 6.5-point road favorite by most sportsbooks. Here are Wisconsin vs. Purdue predictions, odds, picks, and a list of the best college football promos and bonuses for Sept. 22.

Wisconsin vs. Purdue odds, preview and prediction: Wisconsin -6.5 points (-105 or better)

The Badgers (2-1) are coached by Luke Fickell, who went to Wisconsin after a successful stint at Cincinnati that included a College Football Playoff berth in the 2021 season. Wisconsin is led by quarterback Tanner Mordecai, who has completed 67% of his passes. He averages 234 passing yards per game and has thrown two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Wisconsin’s running attack is led by Chez Mellusi and Braelon Allen, both of whom average more than 85 yards per game.

Wisconsin defeated Georgia Southern in Week 3, 35-14, after trailing 14-7 in the third quarter.

Purdue (1-2) lost at home to Fresno State (39-35) and Syracuse (35-20). The Boilermakers defeated Virginia Tech, 24-17, in Week 2 on the road. Purdue has been less of a football power than Wisconsin recently, going to only six bowl games in 15 years.

Purdue has a talented quarterback in Hudson Card. He has completed 72 of 110 passes (65.5%) for 825 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

Card transferred from the University of Texas, where he was largely a backup. When he was recruited, he was ranked the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback behind Alabama’s Bryce Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner.

Last season at Texas, Card completed 69.4% of his passes and had only one pass intercepted in 108 attempts. If the Boilermakers turn around their season, expect Card to be at the center of it.

Wisconsin has dominated Purdue for nearly two decades and with the strength of the Badgers’ lines, there’s no reason to think that won’t continue. Purdue hasn’t defeated Wisconsin at home since 1997.
