Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Dodgers 3/16/23

The Texas Rangers will be in Phoenix, AZ Thursday night for their 19th spring training game of the year against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Texas comes into Thursday struggling this spring with only seven wins after losing four of the last five including two in a row following an 11-8 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Jake Latz got the start for Texas giving up four runs on five hits after recording only two outs resulting in the loss. The Texas bullpen was terrible as well giving up seven more runs on eight hits over the final 8.1 innings resulting in the loss.

Offensively Texas hit the ball well with eleven hits in 35 at bats but only three hits with runners in scoring position left five men on base. Joe McCarthy, Yoshi Tsutsugo, and Sam Huff led the way for the Texas lineup driving in two runs apiece. Josh Smith added to the Rangers offense with one hit and one at bat to go along with one RBI.

The Los Angeles Dodgers come into Thursday playing great baseball this spring with ten wins overall after winning four of the last five including three in a row following an 11-4 blowout of the Cleveland Guardians. Michael Grove got the start for Los Angeles giving up three runs on five hits after recording 8 outs resulting in a no decision. Gavin Stone came on in relief to give up no runs on one hit across 1.2 innings of work leading to the victory. The Los Angeles bullpen held true allowing just one run on one hit over the final 3.1 innings to secure the win.

Freddie Freeman has led the way for the Los Angeles offense this spraying despite playing in only seven games Freeman holds a .353 batting average and leads Los Angeles with three long balls as well. Hunter Fedducia chips into the Los Angeles offense with one home run and a team leading 9 RBIs in seven games played this spring. Left fielder Jonathan LeDuca has been tremendous for the Dodgers as well with a .500 OBP this spring in 12 at bats through 7 games played.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the best teams in baseball this spring and will continue to roll against a struggling Texas team on Thursday.
