Eagle Farm is where Queensland metro racing heads to this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

2 Mr Caleb (Bet Now:$2.50), I think, has a bit on these. Ryan/Alexiou rarely get it wrong when coming to Brisbane and they bring this colt here off the back of a strong debut at Kembla over 1300m, where he got a fair way back in the run after being tardy away and was good late when third to The Years. If he can settle closer in the run, up in trip, he’ll take a power of beating.

Danger

5 Guchi Diva (Bet Now:$4.20) has been solid in two career outings for Desleigh Forster. Did more than enough on debut at the Sunny Coast when second to Boom Master before racing here three weeks ago and I thought found the line pretty well from off the speed behind Trifling. Racing like a rise in trip suits and is the one with solid race experience/fitness under the belt.

Long Shot

4 Capital Cee (Bet Now:$9.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. Stuart Kendrick trained colt that debuted on the home deck at the Sunny Coast over 1000m when getting a fair way out of his ground and was never really a threat but worked to the line well enough late in the piece when third to Shot Of Whiskey. Not sure he has the ability to beat these, but can pinch a first four spot.

Race 2. (13:38) Fisher & Paykal Plate (C3) 1600m

4 Tenzing (Bet Now:$7.50) deserves another look. Tony Gollan trained gelding that made his Australian debut over 1350m at Doomben two weeks ago and was very good in defeat I thought given they went hard early, he was back and doing work from the wide gate. He was entitled to knock right up but he found the line pretty well. Like him up in trip and with a more economical run in transit, he’ll take beating.

Danger

9 Lovely Esteem (Bet Now:$2.15) is a key threat. Four weeks between runs for Chris Waller since winning a Class 6 at Doomben over the mile where she got a sweet steer by Collett and drove hard late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Ocean Treaty. Back to what is a moderate Class 3, she appeals big time as one of the hardest to beat.

Long Shot

3 Whitewater (Bet Now:$12.00) can be an improver at odds. He has the David Vandyke polish and third up from a spell, so he should just about be at peak fitness. Did more than enough here fresh before going to Doomben where he got back in the run and was never a factor behind Patton. Like him up in trip and his best is certainly good enough to be dangerous.

Race 3. (14:13) Hoppys Car Wash (Bm85) 1600m

7 Santero (Bet Now:$2.05) is knocking on the door to win one for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Thought she did a really good job here two back behind Briars Kingdom before going to Doomben where they walked in front and the leader, Sagacious, just had to win with the lead it had and it duly saluted. Has that 1600m run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead for this.

Danger

3 Sagacious (Bet Now:$4.00) will be dangerous if he is able to get a cheap run on speed. To say he got a cheap lead two weeks back at Doomben would be an understatement. Angela Jones got complete control on the gelding and the race was over from a fair way out, giving nothing else a look in. If he cops heat on speed, he could puncture late, but if he gets a soft time of it, he’ll take running down.

Long Shot

6 Stuck With You (Bet Now:$10.00), I think, is in for a really good prep. Matty Dunn trains this stayer, that resumed over 1350m at Doomben two weeks ago, a trip clearly short of his best, and I really liked the way he found the line from the back when sixth to Animate. You’d like to think that with natural improvement, fitter, up to a more suitable trip, he has to rate highly.

Race 4. (14:52) Sporting Chance Cancer Fd-Bm78 1830m

Fitter and up in trip, I think 11 Miracle Spin (Bet Now:$SP.00) is going to take beating. He was kept quite safe in betting when resuming in a 1500m Midway a few weeks ago where he struggled to keep up and was never really a factor but really liked the way he warmed to the task late in the piece when third to Cheerful Legend in a really good return. Can settle much closer in the run and up in trip, he appeals.

Danger

1 Clyde (Bet Now:$9.00) has had a couple of runs at the mile and is now wanting more ground, which is what he gets here. Strong winner two back before racing at Doomben again where to the eye, it was just a run, but breaking down the splits, he had zero chance of winning. He is a stayer, well he was when trained by Gary Portelli, and now getting to 1800m, he appeals big time.

Long Shot

Fitter and up to 1800m are two big ticks for 3 Southern Stock (Bet Now:$19.00). Chris Munce trained gelding that was second up when contesting the Sagacious race from two weeks back at Doomben and just forget he went around given it was essentially a barrier trial, with Sagacious walking them in front and giving nothing else a look in. Like him up in trip and is third up, you’d think he should just about be at peak fitness.

Race 5. (15:32) Energy Air Hcp 1000m

3 Boomnova (Bet Now:$4.00) has credits in the bank to deserve another look. Market said she would need the run when resuming a few weeks ago over 1000m here and that’s how it panned out, sitting near the speed and looming but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to impressive winner The Bopper. Like her against this lot, lands near the speed and her best will see her take running down.

Danger

5 Osamu (Bet Now:$5.50) is a track/distance specialist that commands respect. Market took a set against him when resuming here three weeks ago. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite finish it off, tiring late behind The Bopper to run third, beaten over a length. Better for the run under the belt, he’ll land on speed and prove hard to run down.

Long Shot

1 Tavisan (Bet Now:$6.00) has done little wrong this time in for Kris Lees. Lapped up the Gold Coast Poly to win fresh before going to the Sunny Coast where he was on speed throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when second to the heavily backed Winside. Third up now so should be hard fit and has proven himself at metro level previously.

Race 6. (16:12) Fujitsu General Plate (C6) 1200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.Back Me

5 Fastconi (Bet Now:$4.00) is unbeaten in two runs for Waller in Queensland and I reckon he’s clearly the way to go again. He had two runs in January to start life in the sunshine state and each time he was arrogant the way he put them away. Loved the way he trialled last week and although this is a Class 6, I don’t think it is overly strong. Keen on his prospects.

Danger

8 Manhood (Bet Now:$3.80) is a son of Headwater for Annabel Neasham that resumes. As of right now, he’s a flat track bully in the sense that he has to lead to win. He’s done little wrong in an eight start career but he loves dry ground and loves to lead, so that set up looks ideal for here. Just one quiet trial leading in but is unbeaten fresh and will give himself every chance.

Long Shot

10 Ned’s Gully (Bet Now:$7.50) will put himself on speed and give a sight. Put together a couple of sharp wins at Ipswich before going to Doomben where he gave a very strong kick from on speed and looked the winner, but was nabbed late by Irish Songs, who ran well next start, so the form reads well. Not sure he wins, but a must for multiples.

Race 7. (16:52) Moore Australia (Bm78) 2406m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.Back Me

10 Zippy Power (Bet Now:$SP.00) is a lightly raced mare with good upside and progression, and comes here in form after a strong win over 2200m at the Sunny Coast. Mallyon went early on her but she kept finding under pressure, fended them off and was impressive to the line in winning. Was teasing to win a race and now that she has, I think she can go on with it in what is a thin race.

Danger

2 Tappy’s Lad (Bet Now:$4.60) has won at 2500m previously so 2400m here should be fine. He was big odds when racing at Doomben a fortnight back but in what became survival of the fittest, he was the strongest stayer late and toughed it out best to win. He has run well at Eagle Farm previously and the rise in trip should be ideal, especially with a likely genuine tempo on the cards again.

Long Shot

1 Hostage Of War (Bet Now:$6.50) will jump on the bunny and give them something to chase. He has been brave his past couple, the latest being two weeks back at Doomben where he led and gave plenty of cheek but just couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Tappy’s Lad. He likes to lead and get going from a fair way out so if you are on him, you’ll get a great sight. Last bit will be the test.

Race 8. (17:32) Airtouch Hcp 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.Back Me

Siding with 12 Speak Up (Bet Now:$8.00). John O’Shea trained filly that comes here off the back of a maiden win at Wyong where she settled back in the run and was trucking. Just a matter of Avdulla getting clear air and once she got it, she drove hard and was strong late in winning. That was her first run in five weeks so she has room for improvement and I think 1400m on the bigger deck looks ideal.

Danger

2 Hang Five (Bet Now:$SP.00) has found winning form…can he go on with it? He was very plain second up but dropped back to a midweek race and the ride from Loy was 12/10, getting complete control in front and that control left him with petrol left in the tank and was too good. He’s clearly got the talent to measure up to Saturday grade. Hopefully he can confirm that here.

Long Shot

7 Brookhaven (Bet Now:$6.50) should love the rise to 1400m for Chris Munce. This colt resumed over 1200m at the Sunny Coast and was very good from near last on the turn, working home with purpose late in the piece, just missing out on the win when beaten a lip by Altar Boy. Fitter and up to 1400m, hard to beat if he can settle closer in the run.

Race 9. (18:12) Stradbroke Season Sale (Rs0mw) 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.Back Me

4 Festival Prince (Bet Now:$18.00) looks ready to win for Matty Kropp. Beaten even money favourite when resuming at Dalby over 1000m before going to 1200m at Doomben two weeks ago and I really liked the way he finished his race off after getting a mile back in the run, beaten 4.5L by Situation Room, who controlled in front and gave nothing else a look in. Has run very well at Eagle Farm previously and getting to 1400m, he appeals big time.

Danger

12 Thatfeelsbetter (Bet Now:$2.80) is one of the hardest to beat for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. He appreciated the rise to 1200m a few weeks ago and I thought he found the line with purpose late in the piece when a close up second to stablemate Enterprise Pomme. He has that 1200m run under the belt and that should hold him in good stead for this. Hard to beat.

Long Shot

3 Briars Kingdom (Bet Now:$4.80) has done a super job since joining Tony Gollan. He has been kept on ice since Feb 8 over 1300m here where he led throughout under Jones and the ride was a peach. She got complete control on the gelding and gave nothing else a look in, winning impressively. Very genuine horse with a good racing style. One of the hardest to beat.
