Race 1. (12:53) Gallopers Sports Club Hcp 1200m

Back Me

4 Oceans Of Energy (Bet Now:$4.00) rates highly. Dundeel filly for Matty Dunn that debuted over 1000m on testing ground at Grafton but she absolutely trucked in the run under Mallyon and really, it was just a matter of pushing the button. Once he did, she gapped them and was impressive. Hadn’t shown a great deal in the trials leading in but the market push suggested she was good and ran up to that. Hard to beat here.

Danger

3 Tricketeer (Bet Now:$3.70) should eat up 1200m for Michael Nolan. He looked a moral on paper when resuming over 1000m at the Sunny Coast but he just couldn’t quite dash when asked by Thompson and only got warm very late to run a narrow second, with a big gap to third. Up to 1200m, gets in well after the claim and will be strong at the end. Right in the mix.

Long Shot

2 Russian Alliance (Bet Now:$5.50) has done little wrong in a three start career for Kevin Kemp. Far from disgraced on debut in the Spring on the home deck at Toowoomba in the Pat O’Shea before being spelled. 2/2 this time in, the latest over 1100m at Ipswich where she produced good change up speed to do a number on her rivals, winning quite comfortably. Confident she can measure up.

Race 2. (13:28) Family Raceday 15 April (Bm90) 2200m

Back Me

6 Scarlet Tufty (Bet Now:$7.00) won’t know himself right down in the weights. He ran over this trip at Eagle Farm last Saturday where he was near the speed throughout and battled on really well in defeat behind Warp Speed. He’s been carrying 58-59kg in recent runs. Now he tumbles to 52kg (lightest Jones can ride), and with a soft run on speed, he’ll take beating.

Danger

1 Fast Talking (Bet Now:$3.50) should prove hard to beat for David Vandyke. He ran here two weeks ago in the Gold Coast Plate and was good from off the speed, finding the line pretty well late in the piece when third to the in form Navajo Peak. Track/distance winner from last prep so getting to 2200m is a big tick and the depth here is nowhere near as strong.

Long Shot

2 Barade (Bet Now:$13.00) is fourth up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran in the Gold Coast Plate and I’d be forgiving of the run. He was back near last in the run and the way the race was run, he just couldn’t get involved so forgive and forget the run behind Navajo Peak. Can settle closer in the run if need be and should be hard fit now. Dangerous.

Race 3. (14:07) Ross Tinniswood Hcp 1615m

Back Me

If you can trust the first up win, it could be a case of good luck beating 7 Dune Forty Five (Bet Now:$4.20). Formerly with Tony Haydon, first run for Rob Heathcoate came two weeks ago over 1350m here where he was a big price but despite the massive SP, he gave them an absolute spanking and his late splits were outstanding. Fitter, up in trip, not the deepest open handicap here…happy to be in his corner.

Danger

3 Stuttering (Bet Now:$3.70) is a slight query at a strong mile but hard to knock the way he’s going. He ran over 1350m here a fortnight back where he was near the speed throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get the win when a narrow second to Last Chance, who had a suck run and dashed late to score. If he gets a soft run in transit, 1600m should be okay and has the change up speed.

Long Shot

4 Sagacious (Bet Now:$3.50) is three weeks between runs for Matty Dunn since racing at this trip at Eagle Farm where he attempted to lead throughout and he gave a solid kick but was simply no match late for Santero, who franked the form by bolting up last Saturday, so the form has been ticked off and I do think getting back to Doomben can see him take beating from the front.

Race 4. (14:47) Sky Racing Plate (C3) 1050m

Back Me

14 Putontheredlight (Bet Now:$4.60) has only won the one race but that aside, this mare is flying and knocking on the door. She has placed her past six runs, the latest being two weeks ago here when back off the speed and chased strongly late to finish second to stablemate Situation Room. Bursting to win a race and back to a Class 3, she is one of the hardest to beat for mine.

Danger

10 Mouette (Bet Now:$18.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. This filly is a jump/run type suited to the short course racing. Ran at the Sunny Coast over 1000m just under two weeks back when on speed and looked home when she kicked clear but was nabbed late by Ruby Chicks. The last bit will test but if this track is playing up/in, she’ll take running down.

Long Shot

1 Caribbean King (Bet Now:$27.00) has a good second up record and strikes a winnable race. He resumed a fortnight back in the Situation Room race and I thought he was solid enough from the back, making up some headway without threatening behind the Gollan speedster. Tends to save his best for this trip and with a more positive steer, he’ll prove to be a leading chance.

Race 5. (15:27) Xxxx Dry (Bm78) 1350m

Back Me

10 Count The Coin (Bet Now:$7.50) is flying for Kevin Kemp and is hard to beat. Caught the eye fresh behind the very much in form Deepour before going to 1350m here two weeks ago and was good late from off the speed when third to dominant winner Dune Forty Five. Stays at 1350m is the knock with him but the way he has come back, he rates quite highly.

Danger

8 Ocean Emperor (Bet Now:$5.50) is finding it hard to win but is consistently around the mark and is hard fit. He ran over this trip at Ipswich last time where he was a notable drifter in betting and the market got it right. That said, he was on speed and was only just beaten by Down The Barrel. He’s knocking on the door to win one and that can certainly be done here.

Long Shot

7 The General (Bet Now:$9.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Led and stuck on well enough fresh at Eagle Farm behind Deepour before going to Ipswich where he was ridden with a sit and it didn’t work out when close up in defeat behind Ovidius. The end of 1350m is the query but if he gets a cheap run on speed, I think he’ll kick and give a sight.

Race 6. (16:07) Cascade (Bm78) 1350m

Back Me

4 Da Party Gal (Bet Now:$5.00) looks hard to beat back to Mares grade. She ran two weeks ago at this track/distance where she got off the speed and chased strongly from off the speed when second to impressive winner Dune Forty Five. Third up from a break so she should just about be at peak fitness and if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take beating.

Danger

1350m is a query with 7 Boho Beauty (Bet Now:$11.00) but she hasn’t been too far away of late. She ran at Eagle Farm just over two weeks ago where she was near the speed throughout and battled on pretty well in defeat, beaten narrowly by a handy mare in Kokopo Kitty. If she gets a soft trip near the front, the trip should be fine and this is a winnable race.

Long Shot

5 Xtra Gear (Bet Now:$12.00) is yet to tick the 1350m box but has the right racing pattern to give herself every chance. She ran in the Military Rose two weeks back over 1110m when on speed but just found the class a bit rich when down the track behind Sweet Margot May. If she finds the front and gets some level of control, I think she is going well enough to give plenty of cheek.

Race 7. (16:43) Mekkafest 19 August Qlty 1200m

Back Me

11 Spirit Queen (Bet Now:$3.00) is one of the hardest to beat for mine. O’Dea/Hoysted trained filly that ran in the 3YO Jewel two weeks ago at this track/distance and was very good from near last on the turn, launching late to just miss out on the win when second to All That Pizzazz. Can settle much closer in the run here and should that eventuate, she’ll take a power of beating.

Danger

1 Lubrication (Bet Now:$4.50) is a son of I Am Invincible for Matty Dunn that resumes. He showed good promise during the Summer, which ended with a win in the Pierata Plate where he savaged the line from off the speed to score. Has looked strong in a couple of trials to get ready for the return and while he might need the run, he does have a bit of quality on his side.

Long Shot

3 Ekaterina (Bet Now:$7.00) should be better for the run under the belt. She resumed in the 3YO Jewel where she was near last in the run and spotted them way too much head start. Was never a threat but didn’t mind the way she found the line late in the piece behind All That Pizzazz, beaten just under three lengths. If she shows a bit more initiative re settling closer, she’ll be dangerous.

Race 8. (17:23) Stradbroke Season On Sale-Bm85 1200m

Back Me

6 Manhood (Bet Now:$2.60) looks to have returned in pretty good order. He returned as a gelding when resuming a few weeks ago. The win had plenty of merit to it because he did work on speed and given he was first up, he was entitled to somewhat knock up but he just kept finding under pressure to fend them off and kicked hard for the win. If he lands on speed and gets some level of control, he’ll take running down.

Danger

10 Situation Room (Bet Now:$4.80) is fine at 1200m and is a key threat. He was a strong winner two back at this track/distance before going back to 1050m a fortnight back where he was an alarming drifter in betting but he was strong from on speed and found to win. Back up in trip, in form, good racing style, he appeals as one of the leading contenders.

Long Shot

Fitter and up to 1200m, I want to give 9 Zuma California (Bet Now:$14.00) another chance. He resumed over 1050m here two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way he found the line late in the piece behind Situation Room. Much better suited up to 1200m and he can settle much closer in the run. Hard to beat.

Race 9. (18:00) Ladbrokes Market Control-Bm70 1615m

Back Me

12 Veandechance (Bet Now:$7.00) should appreciate a rise to 1600m for Matty Dunn. She’s had two runs back from a spell. Caught the eye fresh over 1200m against the older horses behind Born A Warrior before going to 1400m at Eagle Farm three weeks ago and was solid from off the speed without threatening behind impressive winner Speak Up. Racing like getting to the mile will be a tick and is one of the key chances.

Danger

9 Tenzing (Bet Now:$3.40) is three weeks between runs for Tony Gollan since racing over the mile at Eagle Farm where he was solid enough in defeat but seemingly had his chance behind The Red Kite. The depth here is nowhere near as strong and off his NZ form, he has the quality to win, but I do think he is near D-Day as to whether he’s a Saturday horse.

Long Shot

2 Clyde (Bet Now:$10.00) has to be given another look for Brian Smith. I am very forgiving of his run a few weeks back given he was wide throughout and just did too much work in the run, feeling the pinch late behind Southern Stock. Prior efforts were more than sound and off them, they are certainly good enough to take this out.
