Belmont Stakes horses 2022: Fast facts to know before you pick a winner for Triple Crown race

Rich Strike will try to win the second jewel of the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 11. Mo Donegal and Creative Minister are the other horses in the field.

The official morning line odds for the 2022 Belmont Stakes field will be updated before Saturday's race.

Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby. He will be up against Mo Donegal and We The People for the longest Triple Crown race. Eric Reed kept Rich Strike out of the Preakness.

We The People has three wins in four starts since February. He won the Grade 3 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park recently. Flavien Prat is going for his career Triple Crown in only four years.

Nest finished second at the Kentucky Oaks on May 6. Todd Pletcher trained her and he won the Belmont with Tapwrit. It's been 15 years since Rags to Riches won. We The People, Rich Strike, Mo Donegal, Creative Minister and Skippylongstocking are the other horses in the field.

Pletcher is the leading trainer with Nest and Mo Donegal. Mark Casse is trying to re-create his Belmont magic with Sir Winston in 2019 with Golden Glider. Kenneth McPeek is following up his 2002 win with Sarava and backing Creative Minister. Reed has proved capable of hanging with the heavyweights and has the benefit of knowing the ceiling of Rich Strike.

Jose Ortiz won the Belmont Stakes with Tapwrit in 2017. Irad Oritz Jr. won with Creator in 2016. Joel Rosario is a two-time winner with Tonalist and Sir Winston. Manny Franco won in 2020 with Tiz the Law. Sonny Leon was incredible with Rich Strike in the Derby.

Essential Quality finished first from No. 2 in 2021. Tiz the Law delivered from no. 8. Sir Winston won from number 7 in 2019. Justify won Triple Crown from position 1 in 2018. Creator made No 13 very lucky in a more expansive field in '16. Nest will start from post 3.

The weather forecast for the 2022 Belmont Stakes is good. There is a decent chance of rain for Saturday in Elmont, N.Y. Temperatures should settle in the mid 60s by post time.
