2023 LIV Picks: Chicago Odds and Expert Betting Predictions

The LIV Golf Tour is rolling into Illinois this upcoming weekend and all eyes will be on Cam Smith as the favorite and defending champion. Smith is currently leading the chase to win the individual title and an additional $18 million in prize money. He owns a 21-point lead over runner-up Talor Gooch with just three events left on the season. Gooch has three victories in the 2023 season, but Smith has won two events out of the past three. The Australian can clinch the title this week with a victory and Gooch must finish outside of the top three. Patrick Reed (third in points with 120) and Brooks Koepka (fourth in points with 112) have an outside chance to catch Smith. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best bets for this weekend in Chicago.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets

Rich Harvest Farms, the Jerry Rich-designed course, opened in 1999 and measures in at 7,401 yards. The 2009 Solheim Cup was hosted there, among numerous elite amateur events, including the 2017 NCAA Championship and the 2021 Palmer Cup. The course plays at a par 71 and features two giant par-threes and two enormous par-fives. The course is very long, hilly, tree-lined, where a lake, lagoons and a creek are in play, and there are numerous blind tee shots.

Bryson DeChambeau +900

DeChambeau has had a resurgent summer and could be in line for another victory this weekend in Chicago. He produced stunning weekend rounds of 61 and 58 to win LIV Greenbrier at the start of August. He played Rich Harvest Farms in the 2015 Western Amateur Championship and finished 17th. Last year he finished eighth at LIV Chicago. It is going to take some powerful drives to compete and score on the par fives. Back DeChambeau to roll to a victory this weekend.

Brooks Koepka (+1000)

This has the makings of a classic Brooks Koepka performance. No, it is not a major but next week is the Ryder Cup and Koepka takes events like this with laser focus. Being selected to the Ryder Cup was not given because of the tensions between the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour. He is going to want to make a statement that being chosen for the Ryder Cup was the correct choice and that means playing well the week before is a necessity in his mind. Despite coming off two straight bad LIV performances, finishing 41st and 38th, I am confident he is going to put together a solid weekend in Chicago.

Peter Uihlein (+5000)

Uihlein had an incredible start to the 2023 season where he finished in the top 8 in four straight events. The big-hitter has cooled off, but the good news is he has had time to reset and make adjustments to his game. Driving will be key this week and he currently leads the tour in Driving Distance averaging 322 yards per drive. Uihlein should be elated to return to Chicago after finishing in second place last year and I will back him to contend at 50-1 odds.
