2023 RBC Heritage picks, odds, predictions, field: Proven golf insider fading Tony Finau at Harbour Town

Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay will be only part of the story this week as a loaded PGA Tour field hits Harbour Town Golf Links for the 2023 RBC Heritage. Spieth beat Cantlay in a playoff last year, after both went 13-under par, but winning the RBC Heritage 2023 will be an even more notable accomplishment. The PGA Tour made the post-Masters tournament one of its designated events, meaning seven of the world's top 10 are set to tee off Thursday in Hilton Head Island, S.C. That includes the past two Masters champions – new No. 1 Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler. Third-ranked Rory McIlroy withdrew, a notable story itself, as he had already skipped the allowed one elevated event. Spieth and Cantlay both have solid histories at Harbour Town, while Rahm, Scheffler and many others will be making rare appearances there.

Scheffler is making his RBC Heritage debut and it will be Rahm's second appearance, but they are the favorites this week. Scheffler (8-1) and Rahm (17-2) are ahead of Cantlay (14-1), Spieth (18-1) and Collin Morikawa (18-1) in Caesars Sportsbook's latest 2023 RBC Heritage odds. A dozen players in the RBC Heritage 2023 field are shorter than 30-1. That group also includes Viktor Hovland (20-1), Xander Schauffele (22-1), Tony Finau (22-1) and Cameron Young (22-1). Nejad specializes in betting and DFS in golf, among other sports. He's had incredible success in the outright and first-round leader markets and betting head-to-head matchups. In 2022, he hit six first-round leaders in a 12-week span while peppering in tournament outrights throughout the year. In 2023, Sportsline debuted "The Early Wedge," and in the first three months of the show, he hit two FRLs and three outright winners. Nejad also had a winning head-to-head record in eight of 10 weeks (including full tournament sweeps on head-to-head plays). He was up more than 70 units over that three-month span.

Now, Nejad has studied the 2023 RBC Heritage field and has locked in his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can head to SportsLine now to see all of Nejad's PGA picks and analysis.

One shocking prediction from Nejad for this week is that Finau won't be in contention despite being among the favorites. The 33-year-old has three PGA Tour victories since the start of last season, but he hasn't been at his best lately. "I've seen little evidence as of late that he can win in this elite field," Nejad says. Finau's victory came at the Houston Open back in November, and he has two top-10 finishes since then. The most recent one came in late January. His stats across the board are strong, but he hasn't been at the level needed to win a top-tier event.

On the other hand, the expert has a good feeling about Hovland after his Augusta performance. The Norwegian hit a few bumps in the Masters, but he shot 65 in the first round and tied for seventh. He has three straight top-10 finishes in elite fields, and though he has played Harbour Town just once, he did well. He shot 68 or better in three of his four rounds to finish T-21 in 2020 at age 22. Now at 25, he has five worldwide victories, and Nejad expects another one. "It's just a matter of time now for Hovland," the expert says, "as he's about to take down a tournament.
